Default A Couple Points for New Players

Just wanted to let any players know where we are in this Game.

-It is 85 BC, 15 years have passed since we started TRS, so anything that historically happened between 100BC and 85 BC has not taken place in this timeline - unless by total happenstance.
-Although we incorporated Marian reforms in the military - Gauis Marius himself does not exist in our timeline, unless someone wants to create a character by that name
-We role play as Senators, who mostly have to work their way up the seniority ladder to get command of legions in a foreign war, if you would like to participate in an ongoing conflict as a senior legate of one legion, ask the current commander if you could join his campaign. Your chance to distinguish yourself in the Senate while you are away at war is then mostly up to the commander.
-We encourage creative and unique characters and backgrounds, but try to stay with what has happened (looking at the maps will show you where the republic is now) - like characters from Britain, which no one in Rome has encountered, are not really viable. If something is wrong , we usually try to let you know
-None of us bite, so feel free to ask any of us for help.

I'm now going to ask as many questions as 4-year old girl. Would love some answers.

Who is the commander of the campaign against Mithridates in Asia Minor and Greece? And who do i ask for permission to lead forces? And can i create and recruit my own legion if my house can afford it or does the Senate give them out to anyone? When and where can i start role-playing? Can i create minor NPCs such as tribal leaders, slaves, soldiers, centurions and nobiles, and use them for evil plots and plans which does not effect the others too much? Does every war and event have to be historic or can one create their own campaigns and wars? Can you start with a private legion or not? Can you start civil war or fund rebellions in rivals houses? Is it allowed to hire mercenary armies? Why is the sky blue? Is this real life? Did Charlie really bite my finger?

    Questions are all fine

Who is the commander of the campaign against Mithridates in Asia Minor and Greece? Quintus Valerius commands the army against Mithrades, I play him. We are waiting for the mod to roll the Pontic forces, Okmin will RP pontus.
And who do i ask for permission to lead forces? you can ask me
And can i create and recruit my own legion if my house can afford it or does the Senate give them out to anyone? Only someone who has been consul can recruit a private legion. The senate will dictate which senatorial legions go where - so that if someone who is not Consul leads an army he has something to do
When and where can i start role-playing? You can start role playing now, the curia is where most stuff happens. You can visit other senators or invite them to your house to make alliances if you want to get bills passed. If you want to lead some legions in Pontus, talk to my character in that thread.
Can i create minor NPCs such as tribal leaders, slaves, soldiers, centurions and nobiles, and use them for evil plots and plans which does not effect the others too much? Yes, but you cannot just create a slave and say he is leading a rebellion, unless the event of that year calls for a slave rebellion. If you want to RP discussions with centurians and legionaries during a battle that is cool and adds alot to the RP. Senators pretty much are the nobles.
Does every war and event have to be historic or can one create their own campaigns and wars? Most of the wars we have had have not been historical at all. the current pontic war just happens to be occurring at roughly the same time Sulla was there.
Can you start with a private legion or not? Nope, have to be consul first.
Can you start civil war or fund rebellions in rivals houses? If you want to lead a rebellion against Rome - good luck - unless you have allies you will most likely get destroyed. If you want to give other senators money- feel free. bribes are possible, but also can be prosecuted
Is it allowed to hire mercenary armies? you can RP hiring cavalry or ranged unit from Spain or any other place we control. Still cost the same amount. BTW , cavalry and ranged can be recruited by anyone
Why is the sky blue? The sky has no color, neither does water
    Is this real life? Yes
Did Charlie really bite my finger? Yes in the chocolate factory

I'd advise that any new players read through these threads. They detail most of what you need to know in order to play. The General Rules lay out the math and actual mechanics of playing the game, while the Constitution has most of the laws and regulations of the Republic.

Also it is a good idea to have an auxiliary character so that you can be active in the senate if you are away as a proconsul
