How to defeat the Mongols as a Ghhorid?

Hi guys!
I have no idea how to defend myself against their hordes! The Ghorids have nearly no Spearmen.
Should i use Cavalary or should i just defend my cities with archers?
Please helpe me!

i haven't play as the ghurids,but in my mind the only logical solution is to recruit a mongol style army with mounted and dismounted archers,heay cavalry and some infantry (2-3 units). the mongols also don't have spearmen,and they are useless to tell you the truth against horsearchers.and of course you can fight them in sieges.of course other mombers with experience with ghurids will help you more.

the only way is elephants... conquer as much of india as possible and lock down those elephant recruitment zones (I think elephants are aor so anyone can train them)

Draw them into bridges or settlements and zerg the out of them with your elephants

Currently I am dealing with this very issue. As soon as the Mongols appeared, they avoided the Kwarzmenshahs and made a beeline for my city of Balkh. The city was lost but I took out a whole stack (and Gengis Khan) with a bunch of cheap scrubs on defense. I then took out another stack (and another general) with more cheap scrubs defending the fort south of Balkh. The Mongols abandoned that fort and wondered aimlessly for 2 turns so I have re-stacked the fort with more cheap scrubs. Who will presumably wipe out a 3rd stack if they are attacked. And if they then attack a settlement like Herat (with ballista towers), they will lose many more stacks, even if they win.

The secret as I see it is making the Mongols win Pyrrhic victories. If they continue attacking me (they must have some weird vendetta in my game), I may lose settlements but they will soon be wiped out. Your secret weapon is Kabuli axemen- you can produce lots of them cheaply and they wipe the mongols out when they attack your settlements.

Launch a Jihad!

i ''cheated'' when i played as the khwarezmians.i let the mongols take merv,and when they did it i declare a jihad on them.only the ghurids and the abbasids followed me with 2 full stack each.i didn't follow the jihad beacause i ceased fires just one turn after the call.the jihad armies didn't manage to capture merv,but its defences were weakened.so i took a full stack and attacked merv,while the mongols gathering stacks around khiva,urgench and southern cities.i took merv easily and after that a miracle happened. the mongols destroyed and became rebels,and the most unexpected was the fact that all their units disappeared,apart from their generals.

you can also try forging an alliance... trade them an important city for it. Spares alot of hassle
