Preferences and other issues

Hello there guys!

I'm having some trouble with the preferences and the cheating menu, first of all: I can't use the preferences button, I've reviewed and try the solutions of other posts but with no results. And Can't find the preferences .txt and there's no "Preferences" folder, just one called IMPURTANT_STUFF.

The other issue is that i can't open the cheating menu with the key(º), it doesn't work.

1. I guess you are playing 2.5? If yes, you'll need to create a folder called preferences in the main folder (where the exe are located).
It should work after that.

2. I believe the standard key is ~, however it changes based on your keyboard layout.

Nice, thank you. I cant use the cheating menu ;/ not even with that keyboard ;(

Maybe have a look at the key bindings in the menu?

I juts had a look, it's not there.
I don't know why it's not working though.

It should be whatever key is above the 'tab' key

I believe his issue is that he knows which key should work, but that it does not.

first, you go to the map "data".
now go to the map "text".
use a standard text editor (like notepad/word etc.) to open "descr_shortcuts"
go down until u see "misc." (at the start of the line)
there should be a line with "show_console" here, and it says "hidden" behind it.
remove "hidden" and save the file

start Rome: Total War, go to controls and press reset to default
there should now be a line "show debug console" in the list of misc. controls
set whatever key u like to it, press the key during the game, and there you go, a nice console

Spoiler Alert, click show to read: 

Steps:
1. You need to have editing rights in your account.
2. Right click RTW shortcut and click "Open File Location"
3. Go to "Data"
4. Go to "text"
5. Go to "descr_shortcuts"
6. Find the Line "show_console"
7. It should be like: show_console GRAVE_ACCENT hidden
-Delete the "hidden" part
-Save It
8. Start RTW
9. Go to Option, Go to Miscellaneous, and click on "Reset Default Keys"
10. Now look closely for "SHOW DEBUG CONSOLE"
11. Double click it and edit it to whatever other key you want, i went with F1

Which is pretty much what has already been posted...... doh
