    Default Display Driver Problem

Whenever I'm playing games, every so often, my display driver will crash and recover. Sometimes while playing more graphically intense games, it will actually cause my computer to shut up. A blue screen will show up saying my computer suffered a fatal error dealing with my display driver, and then the computer will restart. I'm guessing it has something to do with a hardware problem? What should I do, take my computer to a store to get it fixed? I'm not sure what I would exactly replace... Any tips/help?

Check your temps and see if the card is running too hot under stress. If so then most probably dirt is your issue. Lastly no need to update drivers if you're not having any problems with current ones or don't want the latest one to play a latest game. If you haven't updated and the current one is giving you problems then do so.

My computer knowledge is lacking, mind if you can help me figure out how to do some of this stuff?

How do I check my temps to see if it is the problem. And how do I check if my driver is out dated?

irishron is working the update angle so pay attention as he's usually right. But I clipped these posts out as you never actually gave us a SpeedFan screengrab. That may help us to figure out the cause. Good luck!

Most PC stores, particularly those that deal in "repair". are bastions of the iniquitous and vile. Fair warning before you even consider it as an option.

Temperature could be a valid issue but first I'd rather know what hardware you're using before I make any judgement :>

    Could you post a dxdiag?

Open the Run dialogue, if its not immediately accessible in either your Start Menu or your Accessories then hold down the windows key and hit r.

Type "dxdiag" into the provided space, hit enter.

It might take a few seconds to run, once it does however hit "Save All Information". That should save it as a .txt file you can attach to a post.

Run Speedfan and post a pic.

    Post your dxdiag.

    Try installing these. http://support.gateway.com/us/en/pro...1&modelId=2290

Then post an updated dxdiag. Things will change.

Rebel Jeb - Are you using a stock keyboard or a gaming keyboard? Do you have any gaming peripherals like an Xbox pad (or the like) plugged into a USB port? I'd just like to know just in case. Good luck!

Stock keyboard. No gaming peripherals really. Only USB ports I have filled are for the basic things like my mouse. Nothing fancy.

    Okay, the hard way.

www.intel.com for motherboard driver updates. They have a nice "Run Intel Driver Update" button that saves punching in all the info.
www.realtek.com.tw for High DEfinition Audio codecs of which are still Microsoft and 2009.
    www.nvidia.com for graphics drivers.

Trying to download them now, thanks. Should I post another dxdiag when I'm done?

Possibly yes. But as I said earlier a SpeedFan pic would also be useful. It would help to know if your system is overheating. Thanks in advance!

Can't seem to get it to work for me. I'll do some intense gaming sessions tomorrow and see if the drivers problem fixed it. If not, I'll post again and give an update. Thanks for the help thus far everyone.
