So what was up with that show, was it cancelled or something? I mean for sake it was a semi-decent show about Mythology and history and they replace it for Ice-truckers and whatever .
I know there is a Clash of the Gods for Latin America, featuring the Aztec and Incan Mythos (so far) and I just asumed it was like season 2 or something, even if they didnt show much more about the norse mythos.
As it turns out it isnt, its supposed to be somekind of spinoff series for latin america only, what gives? Why do that anyway, you'd think they would show a couple of seasons with the religions of every continent, at least educate people about other things than vikings and greeks (or at least vikings and greeks in History's case).
Anyway I digress, whats up with that, are they retards? Must they shoot down every semi-decent show so they can make way for red necks and shop dealers?

The best Mythology documentary and history doc i ve seen is this:

Quem faz injúria vil e sem razão,Com forças e poder em que está posto,Não vence; que a vitória verdadeira É saber ter justiça nua e inteira-He who, solely to oppress,Employs or martial force, or power, achieves No victory; but a true victory Is gained, when justice triumphs and prevails.

I find it funny that, much like MTV, the History channel has very few shows about, you know, ING HISTORY! Other than at 7 am and the barebones cliffnotes version of the history of an item on "Pawn Stars".

But hey, its not the Hitler network anymore I guess.

Clash of the Gods is the kind of documentary I would make, they seem to have followed similar movie releases as do most documentaries.

The best thing you can do is order the dvd to support the producers.

I just love when I can identify a sound effect in a documentary

Skip to 3:10 and listen as the historian talks about Beowulf tearing off Grendel's arm, then note a starwars TIE Fighter sound for Grendel's scream

I'm still waiting for the History channel to change it's name to something else. It's a knock off of a knock off of a knock off at this point.

    Well that and:

They've even infected NatGeo with reality TV (The Gypsies) and aliens (Chasing UFOs).

    Why?

It gets ratings. Most people don't want educational. They want simple, easy to follow, easy to digest peices of empty entertainment.

Reality TV sells, I have no idea why and I don't honestly want to know, but people watch.

Does anyone disagree with the quality of the documentary series presented in this topic on the History channel?

I stopped watching all these specialist channels and canceled my cable TV 4 years ago. Just do the same and get netflix or something.

This is actually one of the better documentaries though.

Indeed, but its rather melodramatic. It skips out on a lot but they are very complex stories so its forgivivable as long as they go with the gist of it.

Considering the level knowledge most people have about these stories to begin with as well as the wide spread problem of ADD, I think they did well.

For example Huizilopochtli was pretty well done if rather annoyingly delayful (And at this moment Huitzilopochtli is ready to be born, he is to be born in the following moments, as we speak he will be born, after the comercial, he shall be born). Beowulf was nice as well.
Problem is it suffers from a lack of budget, but it still does well, and I think these kinds of documentaries (in regards to mythology) are really helpful in bringing interest to the general public, moreso than boring talks about Zeus and looking at paintings of 2 naked greek dudes.

Which makes me think, Mainstream Clash of the gods can only show so much, and sadly only showed Greek Mythology, Nordic, Beowulf and Tolkein, While Latin america Clash of the Gods has shown Aztec Mythology, Mayan and Inca so far, I wonder if there are other exclusives anywhere else?

My sentiments exactly, but I can only hope to make something on this level.

I just hope they get to go back to documentarys soon after their stupid modern day shows stop drawing ratings.

    I'm betting on TWC.

We have so much talent here, so much access to media, we can make the documentaries.

Hell we've already seen it done by a few people with the Total War engine.

Thankfully here in Australia the History channel is still about history. Shows like Pawn Stars are not shown on the channel, but on A&E instead. Unfortunately we do get Ancient Aliens, but it is more of an oddity.
