    Default New Formations for DarthMod_8.0!

I currently now here state that together with DarthMod_8.0, new formations will be available...version 14.
And believe me this will be decisive.

If you liked version 13 then 14 will be tremendously better since it will have a new idea...a complete swapping procedure for AI thinking during battle.

You will witness an AI to maneuver like nothing before (Yes even more) and I can now program it to change thickness of the units during AI's roles.

For example you will see romans having manipular formations in box shape, then change to line coherent shape, then maybe to manipular but with more stretched unit base formation.

Cavalry to maneuver in column to your flanks (For better maneurability) then form a thin charge line to crash you...

The battle theater will be alive...almost like playing with a good human player.(but the AI will have the advantage of simultaneous unit moving so....maybe he is better :original: )

Since I will fix some new formations for upcoming Arthurian Total War..I will use these new ideas ...like a taste before my complete modification...DarthMod_8.0_Dark_Edition.

Good job mighty Opifex! Could we request some screenshots demonstrating these changes for us to drool over?

Wow! I noticed that some unit width seemed to inhere in the group formations, but I never guessed you would be able to do this! I've lately been coming to conclusion that this is one of the last real advantages the player has over the AI.
    - A phalanx army can be thinner in the middle, thicker on the edges, and hold much more ground. A uniform "Spartan-style" Phalanx is easy to outfox, as we all know.
    - Using barbarians, I have the best success using an EXTREME change in army width between attacking and defending. I actually like to put my falxmen/bastarnae in loose formation and stretch them almost all the way across the map - the warcry will give them enough time to surround and annihilate anything short of a crack legion (which is of course what such legions were designed to survive). On defense I huddle up around the warlord and welcome the enemy into a meat-grinder - it can be like taking a town square sometimes.
    - Column formations might drastically reduce the AI's time spent maneuvering. Currently, the achilles' heel which not even Darth can overcome is the AI's unfortunate need to wait for that very last peltast to find his way through the phalanx before the next maneuver is started. If the enemy were to -GASP!- approach in a column and then form up, with pikemen jogging to position before lowering their spears . . . I would just die with pleasure. (this would also tempt the player to take the initiative once in a while! imagine that!)
    - Sometimes missile units are much better off doing flanking maneuvers in a squarish formation. Heavy peltasts in particular can be a real threat.

Darth, if you can manage this : Thick flanks + thin center + Thick reserve (?), the game will be absolutely astounding.

I am very very eager for your next version. Good luck!

That sounds very promising. Have you taken steps to make the enemy more cohesive and hold the line better?

One thing I also notice is the Ai uses elephants like missile cavalry which is not very wise.

And not only that...Found new technique with priorities to force certain factions to have certain behaviour!...yes.
For example greek_cities are now very defensive as they should be...cautious...powerful.
    Romans...the usual.
Macedons...Truly endless maneuver of cavalry + unbreakable center
    Epigonus...Cautious and decisive
Barbarians...thirsty for a quick ending battle with swarming massive attack

    many more...

Yes Repman ...it is worth the wait believe me!

Have finished it I think...also implemented to Darth_BI formations the new techniques.
It is quite amazing...I did not think I could evolute the formations so much.
