    Default Drivers wont work

    I reinstalled Win 7 Home Premo x64 onto a Acer Aspire 5552-7474 yesterday. I used an OEM disk, which as to keep Acer's crap off of there and decided I would install the drivers myself. I DL'ed and installed them and deleted and reinstalled them but they wont work and it won't recognize the integrated wireless card. It is a broadcom card. This person has to have the wireless working and it is the only issue I am having. Any ideas?

    Honestly you should reinstall using the Acer OEM (your client's disc) instead of your own. It may seem like a good idea to use your own OEM version but with the way MS tracks versions these days I'd bet something is locking you out.

    To put it bluntly - are you sure you haven't burned-out that OEM license you're installing? It has a limited lifespan when installed across a number of systems....

    Good luck!

    Acer didn't give them an OEM disc. Also activation doesn't work that way. It is the same key for the same system, which has absolutley nothing to do with the drivers.

    Drivers doesn't work means either they're corrupt or installed improperly, which couldn't be the case, seeing that you're experienced in doing it.

    So it only means that you're installing incompatible version. There are 3rd party programs that install all drivers automatically without downloading anything manually and then installing it. I don't remember their names but they certainly do what they advertise.

    I search for a driver finder and couldnt find any that either worked or that you didnt have to pay for.

    Here is the drivers in specific: http://support.acer.com/us/en/produc...1&modelId=3276

    It is for the broadcom wireless chip. When I go to install it goes just like it should and the little icon in the taskbar shows up saying that the drivers are installing, but after setup is finished, it just goes back to the little yellow exclamation next to the wireless in the device manager. I have reinstalled the damn things several times and they just wont work.

    Are you sure this is a driver issue? From here it looks like it could also be a permission issue. Are you sure that the wireless card is configured to access the router or cheap Telecom-provided-modem? Are you sure that the passwords and handshakes are set correctly? Good luck!

    Ok, I finally fixed it by downloading wireless drivers for an entirely different model. Apperntley the new ones they have only contained 10MB of the 30 or so that they are supposed to have. Hopefully anyone else who has this issue will find this thread in Google so they don't have to suffer through it.

    @PoleCat
    I just noticed your sig and it seems to be very true. Normally I don't do this, but don't try to come up with crap responses. Anyone that has a decent tech level will know what you just listed isn't even close to what the real problem is or how to fix it.
