Third Age wont play need help

My Third Age Total War no matter what I try will not start. As I press to play the game starts then immediately quits and I am back to the desktop and I have tried everything.

I have Uninstalled/reinstalled TATW, Medieval 2, Medieval 2 Kingdoms, and including my Steam
turning off my firewall,
starting with administrator,
changing my UAC options,
installed the Kingdoms Launcher Editing Application,
installed the alternate Launcher v1.2 from http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2500705,
everything is in the right place,
and Ive got the latest update of Third Age (3.2 including the re-release)

Does anyone else have any other suggestions that I could try?

Same here,i have followed all the guides,installed the launching tool.Nothing but crash and then desk top.Steam is slowly killing me.

I would hope to avoid having to buy the Gold edition just for a mod, even though it is really cheap. It is possible to run the mod on steam. I have had it working before in an earlier version of the mod, but nothing seems to be getting it working now.

Did you try deleting TATW contents of the virtual store (see below)? Also, be very careful to install 3.2 correctly. You need to be sure to point the installer to the right place.

C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Sega\Medieval2 Total War

I didn't find any Third Age Total War or Medieval 2 or Kingdoms content in my virtual store.

Edit* I did discover that my Kingdoms expansion isn't loading. Every time I try to play Kingdoms it loads vanilla Medieval 2. Ive even tried using the .exe as administrator.

I've tried that for steam, but it just starts the loading screen and then crashes...

Okay, I've unistalled all TATW versions, and reinstalled 3,0, then 3,1 and then 3,2 and now it works. :-)

Hey, I have medival 2 total war kingdoms expansion gold edition though, I have installed both then installed v3.0 part 1&2 then third age total war icon shows up on my desktop click on it it comes up loading then after about 10 seconds it returns to the desktop saying 'medival 2 has encountered a unspecified error' please help I really want to play this game I love lord of the rings. Oh and by the way I have windows xp service pack 3 please reply

Hmm, does it crash before you get to the main menu or can you start a game and then it crashes? When exactly does it crash?

cheers it chrashes before i even get to the main menu it crashes when it's first loading up and says medieval 2 has encountered a problem

Now that you mention it Kingdoms doesn't seem to be working on the vanilla game, because when I look at my campaign map it doesn't include the Americas on the left of the campaign map.

Edit: By the way the mod editor didn't work unfortunately.

I believe the Americas will only appear after a certain turn in the vanilla M2TW game.
