    Default How to run away

I remember in Rome Total war there was often an option to flee and that made it possible to survive an overwhelming assault

Sometimes when I get attacked by an overwhelming enemy force I feel its best to make an escape but its difficult to do.

When the worst comes to the worst I might want to save the General

in that case we Samurai call it a tactical retreat - or more poetically "following the flow" - we never "run away"

In Campaign Map: Press The White Flag Button on The LowerSide of Engagement Window.

In Battle Map: Press The White Flag Button on The Upper Right Side of The General Portrait UI.

clicking the flag on screen doesn't always work.

I'm not sure whether mine is bugged.

for small groups of cavalry including the general the best solution seems to be to run the enemy round until they run out of time - but you have to deal with their cavalry first because they will eventually catch up with yours.

if u run out of movement points and you are attacked you cannot retreat. otherwise enemy can army can endlessly retreat

There are a few situations where you are not allowed to retreat on the campaign/battle map.

    - Your army has retreated once already and was attacked again in the same turn(you may not retreat on the battle map either, if you've already retreated once on the campaign map).
    - You are the defender in a siege battle.
    - You are reinforcing a defending ally in a siege battle.
    - There is nowhere to retreat to(I had an interesting experience where an AI army, boxed in against mountains to the north and a neutral territory to the west, tried to retreat and was simply destroyed without battle ensuing).
