    Default Virus :(, please help.

So I think I just got a virus a few mins ago. Maybe half an hour by now.

I saw the quick flash of one of those black dos boxes, and it started from there lol

My first instict was to go to the task manager and stop any processes that were new, but I guess it was one step ahead of me, because it blocked the task manager someone. It would open for a split second, then close. damn, At least now I got that working. But I used spybot it found a bit, but it dident work. I then went to my RegCleanr, and the start up programs. This was a new one, it had about 3 entries basicy the same.

    compaq32 service drivers
    msconfi32.exe
    loaded from hkey_cu/run(one says runservices)

There is also a new file in my main C drive folder.

drsmartload245a- Of course its being used by another program, and I cant deleate it.

Any advice? I tired spybot, any other good free virus tools I can use?

Lovely, now the task manager isent working again. damn it lol

Great! I have had to restart my computer twice since that last post.

New exe in the C drive folder:

    eij3n4

It also added a program to the startup list, but this time its letting me take that one off with reg edit. Hum,

I would *really* appriciate some help, just a virus scanner that could help me, please.

IF you want ot be *really* nice a direct link to one thats not to large would be amazing. (I am on a 56k right now.....ya...my life sucks..I know)

Get AVG free edition as soon as you can and do a full system scan. Everything else should be secondary for now. After you downloaded your anti virus and the updates, disconnect from the web completely.

That means pulling your cord out.

    http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

Once you done with the virus scan and if the viruses eliminated, patch up your windows and if you use IE, stop using it. use firefox or Opera and keep your antivirus up to date and have the anti virus run at least once a week.

And don't quit the virus program unless you gonna play some memory hungry game. And when next time you download anything, do not download .exe files.

And do a virus scan on them before you ever install or open anything off the web.

Have you tried an anti-virus program? McAfee has a free online scanner, and I think Zone Alarm does too as well.

I realy recommend switching on your "virus guard" (or whatever it's called, I mean a background scanner that scans every file you downlaod or open).
Some take up a lot of RAM and make your computer realy slow, especially commercial ones like McAfee.

I'm using Avira AntiVir, and it has a very good guard that consumes very little RAM and speed.
I hardly notice it's there until it pops up with a virus warning.
    And it's free too.
I'm sure other free programs are good too, but this is what I'm using for a long time now and I'm realy happy with it.
you can get it here: www.free-av.com

You can also try Avast Anti-Virus Home Edition. It's free.

I strongly suggest that you do a "Boot-Time" scan.

get trend micro free trial anti-virus

reboot, when the virus (if its ad/spyware) tries to connect to the internet, trend micro will catch it, and tell you where and what the file is located

then cut and paste it to your desktop, reboot, delete it

that's only if you can't "catch" it with anti-virus, happened to me once, for some reason it didnt register with anything

Thanks, I think i have it under some control now. I kinda did the same thing without the program. I used regedit and search and found most of the files I think. Hope it works for now, while I download a good anti virus. Thanks for the help guys.

The simplist way, usually, is just to do a reinstall. If that is not a option, try msconfig to stop the file from running.

Sorry for the x2 post, but its an update ;-P.

Well, hours later and nearly 200 infected files later, (damn that was a long scan) I think I am on the road to a clean computer.

I decided on using Avast, mostly because the download was the smallest :-P

Again, thank you very much guys, I dont know what I would have done without you.

Its kinda funny, most of the free anti-virus programs are better than all that norton/whatever. Just today I caught that bastard virus spyaxe that really ****ed up my computer before with avg anti-virus. Something that Norton was incapable of doing.

Format your hard drive and reinstall windows. Remember to install virus protection and firewall before conneting internet cable. Run windows update immediatly along with virus update and you shouldnt be in big trouble.

Also if you are behind NAT or you are able to use fast proxy server I suggest to do that. And download Opera and use it instead of Internet Explorer.

This is not execlusivly my computer, but I think I am going to try to convince my parents it needs to be re-formatted, wihtout them blaming me for it ha.

The problem is ok for now, but I dont know if this is the last one :-/

If anything, once I move, here in a month or so, I will have acess to high speed again. Then I may do it. Its alot easier to update than with this damn 56k.

Oh btw, I havent used IE for a long time, firefox is my prefred browser.

    EDIT: After two boot scans,
The first finding nearly 200 infected files
    The second around 40
I am doing a *thorough* scan of the Windows Folder, and it just found one.

Wow...........who creates virues? Honstly? Who are these people, what bastards.

That's what I've been wondering too, who are they?
I imagine them as vampire like creatures who hardly come out of their homes.
Skinny with long fingers that rattle over their keyboards with great speed.
Them having bio implants are even a possibility.
(but that's just how I imagine them, I realy have no clue what they look like)

I am however convinced that they have no girlfriend, never had one, and never wil.
But this raises a new question: how do they reproduce? what is keeping their species alive?
Freaky stuff, better not think about it too much.

Whenever I had a virus I always found comfort in the thought that my life pretty much sucked, but it was still nothing compared to the pathetic excuse for a life that virus writers must have.

Remember to clean your computer from spyware also. I find spyware more dangerous today then actual viruses and troijans. You should also install and run these programs.

Spyware Blaster, it blocks spyware instantly if you are using IE or firefox, doesnt take resources to block spyware.

Ad-Aware SE Personal, For registery spyware.

Spybot Search & Destroy, finsing and destroying spyware.

eWido Anti-malware, yet another spyware eliminator that have won several awards.

There's a huge problem with those programs. They don't work and they themselves are spyware and adware.

Anyway, sort of a necropost, but I've come to the realization I have some viruses and trojans in my system. I tried 3 of those programs and none of them worked; well, they worked temporarily, but the little nasties found their way back into my computer when I wasn't even logged into the internet.

I'm about to wipe out my HD and re-install Windows. So, I've come to the conclusion that the best protection is not to put yourself in danger, as in don't browse questionable sites or porn sites that'll surely inject crap into your computer. It's like defeating a habit: the best way to overcome it is don't start in the first place.
