Default New graphic card causing shutdown

I've been Playing Medieval total war a quite some time now, just moved to SS 6.3 a few months ago. I have been using my onboard video the whole time but finally decided to get a video card, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814125403, nothing crazy but something to make the game run a bit smoother. So after I first installed it SS wouldn't start up it would just say "unspeciified error" and close, so I installed the card drivers and then tried again, this time it worked. I was able to start playing, it definitely looked better , but in the middle of a battle I got the unspecified error again and the game stopped responding and shutdown. Anyone encountered this before? And is there a way to fix it without reinstalling SS as I am currently playing a pretty fun Scottish campaign.... Thanks for any help

update your drivers to the latest version, then go into your drivers software and make sure you have stainless steel/mtw2 put under your discrete video card, not your on board.

Also is this the first video card you put in your computer, if not, you probably forgot to uninstall your old one's drivers which will create conflicts. You might also want to make sure you have directx9 installed.

The drivers are updated and I couldn't find any old ones left over, also i am using directx 11. I am not sure what you mean by putting SS under my discreet card and not my onboard video...

and in there it should have like 3d or discrete or something properties...assign the game in that tab/section.
