    Default export_descr_unit.txt

Can anyone post an unmodded export_descr_unit.txt? I tried using the unpacker and followed the instructions to the letter, but they ruined TWO of my installations and made me reinstall the game both times I used it, so quite frankly I don't want to try the unpacker again.

Doing this is against the TWC rules. Do you have Vista or 7 and if so, did you disable the UAC before using the unpacker?

No can do. It's against CA/Sega's EULA and this site's Terms of Serviice of uploading unmodded files.

Post your dxdiag. Possibly a reason it not unpacking properly in there.

No, the problem with the unpacker is that it does unpack the files, but it unpacks them to a completely different file in the main hard drive directory called extract. I put all the files from extract in the data folder, then I launched Medieval 2 and everything was fine until I tried to start a custom game, as it gave me an "Unspecified error" crash when it finished loading the battle.

You are using Win7 or Vista and installed in the default folder with the UAC enabled, right?

90% of what's wrong with an unpacker written for XP and Microsoft's security piece of since.

Do you wish to know how to get it all unpacked at once in your main Medieval2 folder, unless you are using Steam?

Download my attachment and extract the file i have given you in your unpacker folder. Then simply double click on it and press "y" 3 times.
After that just check your C:\packs\data location to retrieve the file.

Btw which windows do you have? And did you delete your 2 geography files from the unpacked data folder?

Now an even larger problem has surfaced. My Medieval II game was still having the problem, so I completely uninstalled it, including deleting all files related to it and deleting everything it had in the registry, and now I can't even reinstall the game. Originally the install process went just fine, but then it said an error involving "English" and claimed it had a file redundancy, then the installer said the installation failed and closed. Now whenever I try to start up the installer, it says one of two errors, "Insert the original MED2GOLD disc" or "Disc drive is not ready". What do I do now?

    Try this for one. http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...l-II-Total-War
Try Eusing Free Registry Cleaner for two.
    Restart your computer for three.
    Clean your disc for four.

What you listed would include them all.

How much free disc space do you have on your harddrive?

311 GB. I'll try restarting and cleaning.
