game won't close completely

I am playing TWM II: kingdoms with the SS 6.4 mod. When start up my game again after having ended a session I get a message telling me that "the game is currently running" I looked under my processes using the Windows 7 task manager and there is a "Launcher.exe 32" listed in the processess...only after I "end" this can I start the game again. Have I installed the game improperly? I downloaded the game from Steam.

Notorious Steam problem. I've had it with Shogun2.

There is no fix I know of. It's a memory issue built into the .exe we can't touch.

Yep I get this to. Kind of a nuisance to have to CRTL-ALT-DEL every time I close the game as the Launcher exe. seems to use about 25% CPU. I also think it may have something to do with my computer sometimes getting stuck in the "Shutting Down" screen in vista. After I shutdown I ussually just turn my monitor(TV) off right away and occasionally, the next time I turn the TV on, hours or even a day later the computer is still "Shutting Down". It could be something else wrong but I have never noticed that happening when I know I have ended the Launcher exe process.

It's a memory allocation error. Believe.

When these programs shut down, they are supposed to release everything in ram and write it to disc. If anything interrupts this write process so it can go ahead and shut down/exit completely, things like this happen.

This is where I'm old skool and hate third party interference like Steam. Any more, though, it's a necessary evil.
