I'm a long time fan and appreciator of Rome Total war and the total realism mods. Last time I played, I believe I was using RTR Extended realism and it was good times. And now I come here and there is this thing called RTR 7, and so I download it, but I am unable to install any of the patches successfully. I was looking at the form thread for that, but honestly it's way to confusing to sift through. Patch 2a downloaded, I put it in the file as directed by the forum topic, but I couldn't extract anything from it or install it, it was tragic.
In addition to not being able to install the patches/hotfixes, I am just sort of confused by this mod. It seems like most of the factions are either some kind of Gaul or some kind of Greek, and you can't play as Germania in the campaign, and their faction symbol is a big question mark--which actually amused the hell out of me. I'm under the assumption that everything in here is supposed to be as realistic as possible--but wasn't the RTR extended realism mod going after that same goal? If so, then how is it that they came out so differently? Are there two time lines of history? Am I from another dimension?
I'd like to play whichever mod is the most universal and historically accurate. Which one should I be playing? Thank you for your time.
By the way, I posted this same thing in the extended realism section by mistake, so i'm reposting it here where it is more relevant I think.
