Need help from my fellow RSII players.

Sorry if this is off-topic, but I need some help with the LOTR-TW mod, I know many people from the RSII community, so I thought it might be easy to find some help from you guys.

So if anyone here does play the mod (preferably on Steam), I've got a problem that's giving me a pain in the backside and the people at the LOTR-TW sub-forum have failed to reply in anyway for some time, same thing on ModDB.

Whenever I'd patch it to 2.08(the newest patch) it gives me a "Failed to find Steam" error, it used to do this even without the patch but after delving into the depths of the folders I somehow fixed that, if anyone here does play it on Steam I'd love if you'd be able to help me.

The obvious thing would be, do you have steam started?

What exe are they using?
Also, how do they launch it for Steam?

I have that mod but no Steam

The easiest would be to create a batch file (http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/write-s...atch-bat-file/ follow the first step if you don't know how to do it) in which you would paste :

set SteamAppId=4760
set SteamAppUser=*Your steam user name*
set SteamAppVersionId=0
set SteamPath=F:\Steam (Change this to your Steam path)
set SteamUser=*Your steam user name*
set suppress_restart=1
set ValvePlatformMutex=F:\Steam\steam.exe (Change this to your Steam path plus \steam.exe)
set __STEAM_BOOTSTRAPPER_ICON_ID__=128

set PATH=%SteamPath%;%PATH%

RomeTW-ALX.exe -mod:lotrtw  -show_err

You'll need to replace the Steam user name and your Steam path with your own (the red lines).
Save it in your Steam folder (ie .../Steam/SteamApps/Common/Rome Total War Alexander).
You can either double click on it, or create a shortcut that points to it.

I'm still getting the same error, I created and used the batch file after installing with those steam steps and patching it to 2.08.

In the RTW Alex folder, that's where most of the mod's launchers and stuff go, other than the folders of the mod itself.

Ok, I wasn't clear, sorry.

You need to replace the existing path with your own, I just left mine to show you the pattern.

Now it runs but it gives me a BI loading screen then quickly crashes and gives me a "Failed to read censored word dictionary file: data//chat_filter.san" error.

You need the chat_filter.San file in the same folder.

Nope, gives me the failed to read censored word error, I never moved the file that's where it was.
