It's funny if you imagine I have the "real men of genius" or "Real american heroes" bud light background singer voice

John Lennon and Corporal Hicks's "Imagine...."

    Imagine there's no Heaven
    It's easy if you try
    Because you can't see it...
    No hell below us
    Above us only sky
that's kind of how it is
    Imagine all the people
    Living for today
rapists, burglars murderers gettting their free reign

    Imagine there's no countries
    It isn't hard to do
    oh, yes, yes it is
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
says a guy who's bigger than jesus
    Imagine all the people
    Living life in peace
    bull ****

You may say that I'm a dreamer
    No, your just insane
But I'm not the only one
Justinian and PyrrhusIV got your back
I hope someday you'll join us
    Fat Chance
And the world will be as one
    European Union....

    Imagine no possessions
    It's called the Soviet Union
    I wonder if you can
Yeah...I just said it was the Soviet Union
No need for greed or hunger
    A brotherhood of man
    Imagine all the people
    Sharing all the world
    Stop smoking your pot

You may say that I'm a dreamer
    Or a druggy hippie
But I'm not the only one
    Hippies uniting for the cause!
I hope someday you'll join us
For a hit of my bong
And the world will live as one
we like to call that the precurser to the apocolypsssssssssssssssssssssssss

In essence my opinions of this song have allready been written.

This song, and it's singer, John Lennon are way too optimistic and idealistic. They expect people to just live in huts, no wait those would be possesions, live under trees in peace and do nothing but eat fruit all day.

    Hmmm, sorry John, no dice.

If you'd like to add your own "background" singers to songs you dislike to make them funny go right ahead, I'd love to read them.

It would be nice if you could post a reasonable outline of Locke's or Hobbes' views as to why the state was needed, rather than simply bastardise a perfectly good song.

Hey! This is a special thread from a certain special boy, and it's not nice to be mean like that!

    1. This thread was not meant to discuss his views on that song, but to share his lyrics and allow the reader to come up with their own background lyrics to another song. If it were the former this probably would have been posted in the mudpit.

Not in the sense that Tostig used it in. "Perfectly good song" is meant to imply that it is pefectly good at being a song. I'm not sure how else to explain that, but hopefully it's understandable.

But the single purpose of his butchery was to attack the optimistic world-view expressed in the origional lyrics. Now I understand that his arguement, or lack of, must be so weak that it cannot stand up in the mudpit. None the less the intention of his post seems to be criticising it in such a way that there can be no reply, no rebuttle to his unjustified views - in effect no discussion what so ever.

    2. Good is subjective
I was under the impression that Hicks, being a stereotypical God-fearing American does believe in an absolute system or morality. However your point is still valid since it was I who posted it. I would reply that I did not mean good in a moral sense, but in a prescriptivist sense. By saying "good" I was prescribing a course of action - in this case "A good song" could be taken to mean "If you were to ask me for a song then I would recommend this one, since it fulfills all the functions of a song perfectly well."
