Wookiepedia is the best SW resource. It's more accurate and informative than the official star wars site.
I liked Episode III because the Empire rises and the sith finally win. The Empire, IMHO, are the good guys of SW. That is quite clear. If you think the rebel alliance are the good guys, then you have a serious case of ADD.

All within good reason, my dear rebel-sympathizer. Alderaan was supplying the rebels with money, ships, food, weapons etc. It was a major center of rebel activity, and definitely had weaponry and defensive systems. Tarkin, in his great wisdom, knew that Alderaan was lost, and used his authority to wipe the traitorous planet from the face of the galaxy.

Alderaan's political elite were responsible for this - the Organa family and their friends - while the people as a whole wouldn't have been interested in anything except keeping their jobs, raising families, etc., the same as 99% of people living in 'evil empires' in the real world.

PLUS I will remind you that by this time the Senate had been permanently dissolved and direct control given to imperial Governors. Do you suppose the planet's Imperial Governor and all his staff were warned beforehand? And the planet's garrison of imperial troops and officers? Nope. They were all just obliterated along with everyone else.

If Tarkin really just wanted to quell troubles on Alderaan all he'd have to do is instruct the governor to take more extreme measures and have mass-arrests and internments without trial of the whole political-class, intellectuals, etc., and to confiscate all their property. End of problem.

Darth Malak: 'Wipe this pathetic planet from the face of the Galaxy!' Unjustified brutality without subtlety - violence is a fine-edged tool for the true master of oppression, not a blunt instrument to cudgel to bits the very thing you're trying to control.

I was reading that for a few hours one day, was fun.

I hope that if they make these tv series that they want to do that they actually hire decent people to do it. The fact that lucas wont be directing should make them somewhat decent.

I dont read star wars books but from reading the latest "era" history, with the new empire and the imperial knights, it sounds interesting. That empire actually is very interesting and its because they are more neutral or ambiguous than evil. Also the concept of "grey jedi" makes the "universe" more realistic than the black and white only views on the movies. I also think its cool how the emperor is a former jedi, but not a sith.

I would like to see that "era" as a tv show more than what the concepts are.

Reading some of this actually makes me want to pick it up. But the fact that their are so many books with backstory and characters turns me away, lol.

I think the rest of star wars seems boring and unorigional.

The always good jedi with one dimentional beliefs vs the always boring sith with one dimentional beliefs. The empire is always evil, the group that the good guys are aligned with (usually the jedi or alliance) are always good. Also the bad guys are usually EXTREMELY evil, not just slightly evil.

I like the change of a more grey area.

IDK you probably read it and maybe the writing and story arcs are boring and unorigional but the concept is not. Maybe its boring because its more like reality, lol.

I laughed when Obi Wan in the Episode 3 said only the sith deal in absolutes, when the jedi are the same way. From the movies your only jedi or sith, your doing things that are the jedi way or not the jedi way, etc.

BTW what i'm talking about are only what i've seen from the movies and some of the game that i've played. Though some of the games are more "grey" but they have to be to allow free form gameplay. Like KOTOR.

old star trek, like next generation and deep space nine, is good. The new show like Enterprise and Voyager is **** like what you said. You might be too young to remember those shows though, they were the best sci-fi out at the time. Especially DS9, which was basically a ripoff of Babylon 5, which you probably dont remember.

Star Wars aliens aren't any different btw. Its even worse since the new episodes have almost completely kid-orientated aliens, especially in episode 1 and 2. "Cute" looking aliens and aliens that act cartoon goofy. Also, in ep2, droids with new york accents and small coffee shops with cartoon aliens as well.

Star Wars is not any better in that respect, in fact i think its worse since its kiddie, literally for 12 year olds. The way they represent aliens and anything not human i mean.

Thats, actually, one reason why I never went past the movies or games. Its very kid orientated, at least when lucas is running things.

Yoda is 800 years old and walks with a stick, and he is still invincible.
Always wonderred this, what IS Yoda exactly, is he some kinds of alien race? If so you never really see any other members of it, heh.

if SW were made more like Battlestar Galactica- this would be best sci fi story ever.
Yes, if they had the people who are doing Battlestar do the star wars movies, they would of been very good. I mean WOW, it would of actually of had decent space battle sequences and not 80% lightsabre battle fanservice and soap opera quality love story.

Battlestar and Babylon 5 were the best sci-fi series ever made. Battlestar being better by leaps and bounds. If lucas hired other people to direct the new movies, like he did with Episode 5 and 6, they probably would of been up their though.

I'm sure I've seen a member of Yoda's race before, but they had a little bit of white hair.

Jedi master Vandar Tokare (KOTOR) was of the same race as Yoda.
