    Hate sieges like me? I mean really hate sieges in ETW? Those walls between you and your enemy causing terrible lags and even more terrible AI behaviour?
    Tried other no-fort mods where the pretty city buildings disapear in battle, and the AI is still weird because it still think there ARE walls?

    Well, enough is enough...

    Shokh Hates Sieges! And you should too!

    This simple small mod fully disable the city fortifications for you and the AI. Not like in previous mods where the building time is set to 500 turns or 500000 funds (both things confuse the AI) or mods where the city is replaced with a non existing fort and you have to engage because the AI still thinks there are walls.
    The full slot is disabled and we let the CAI think it is vanilla.
    It will not affect the very few settlement fortifications which are existing at campaign start, but thats all.
    So city battles takes place now in and around a city as it should. Without walls, with buildings.

    Version 1.0
    - Deactivate settlement fortification slot, existing fortifications are untouched.

    Download: shokh_hates_sieges.zip

    Install: Unzip it and just put the file into your data folder. Thats all, no entry in the script.

    Later versions will have some other stuff included, but the biggest issue is gone with this first step as the CAI doesn´t like to build forts.

    Feedback and bug reports are welcome.

    Thank you shokh for this small but very useful submod! I really hate having to throw my units at walls while they get killed by cannon and muket fire. I tried a siege on vanilla ETW with full stacks on both sides (militia for the defenders, elite units for the attackers; i was playing as the attacker). The cannon fire from the walls , combined with the musket fire and the long time of climbing desroyed my units before they even got to the top of the wall!

    I like fort sieges but many people don't. So good work!

    You may want to speak with Tango about it.

    Is this mod savegame compatible or do I have to start a new campaign ?

    I have enjoyed playing ETW with DarthMod but the siege fort-battles are annoying as hell and slow the game to a crawl, I love to play the normal field battles though.

    Should and could be savegame compatible. It depends if there is any AI faction in your savegame actually in construction of a settlement fortification. In this case i don´t know if the game will crash when costruction is finished or not as the whole building slot is disabled by this mod.

    Would suggets to try it out. Use this submod and play a few turns. If it´s stable then you can go on.

    Didn't work with a savegame, but started a new campaign and it works perfectly !

    No more frame-hog siege battles YAY !!

    Yesterday when I played the mod worked fine. Today I fired up my savegame from yesterday and the forts are back. First I thought it was a glitch when I attacked Istanbul with Austria but when I sieged Rome the fort was there again. Yesterday when I played and took Munich, Berlin and other German states there were no forts present but today with the same campaign the forts are back...

    Istanbul already has a level1 fort.

    Thats correct, existing fortifications will not be touched by this mod. Those are only a few.

    will try this whit the Beta 8.0 version. Are ther any Porblems whit that did anybody yet tested it?!

    Shouldn´t be any problem as it alters only one table which wasn´t used in earlier version of darthmod.

    If this mod changes the startpos, so it would probably make some effects of DMUC beta skewed

    Shame it is not savegame compatible, I'm really starting to hate siege battles, mainly because when I'm the attacker and they're the defenders, they sally forth and stand down doing nothing. Then what is the point of battle if they don't sally forth at all?

    No startpos changes, only a table of db which shouldn´t be included in DM, will check it later but i´m 99% sure it will be compatible.

    Christianus, I've tried it with DMUC 8.0 with Causa Belli 2.01 and haven't found any problems yet. Working for me.
