Total Realism with Gold?

Hey guys,

today I downloaded the Total Realism mod, because a friend told me that it is great. Now I installed the +600MB sized file and also the ~250MB Patch 2.a. When I start now, it says i have to patch Barbarian Invasion to 1.6 but when I do so, it says me patch 1.6 is not compatible with the Gold Pack of Rome.

I found a Rome TW Gold Patch 1.2 and installed it, but I think it was for the Total Realism Gold and not the normal game. Am I just patching wrong or is there no chance to play the mod with Gold?

It is possible to play RTR VII with the RTW Gold Edition, as I've been doing it myself for years

First of all, which mod are you trying to install? I'd advise you to install RTR VII. You certainly installed it's latest patch (2.x), but messed it up by putting the RTR6 Gold patch on top of it.

I'd uninstall RTW completely, then follow these steps:

1. Install RTW Gold
2. Install RTR VII
3. Install RTR VII Patch 2a
4. Install the RTR VII Patch 2.x Hotfix

I deinstalled the Gold Edition and my friend gave me his normal Rome CD and Barbarian Invasion. I installed both and updated it to 1.6.
But now when I start the Launcher, it says RTR was installed into the false direction or I don't have BI. I tried it two times now and chose the right direction, (C:\Program Files\Activision) but after Installation for some reason its in C:\Programs (x86)\Activision.
I have no idea why this happens, do you? :/

Nope. What I'd advise you to do is to cut your 'RTRVII' folder from the C:\Programs (x86)\Activision and paste it into C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome Total War. After that, you should edit the shortcut and change the 'target' line to point it towards the new location, which should allow you to launch the mod.
