Okay here's the truth - I haven't listened to the Beatles to much however here is why they suck if you would care to get off your high horse for one moment Octavian and co....

This is from a guy who hates the Beatles backing up my point -
    I HATE THE BEATLES!

    Why don't you?

"And my brother's back at home with his BEATLES and his Stones....what a drag" --All The Young Dudes, Mott the Hoople

"In 1977...no Elvis BEATLES , no Rolling Stones...." --1977, The Clash

"All that phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust..." London Calling, the Clash

Face it, the Beatles are BORING. People who hate rock and roll and all it stands for like the Beatles. People who haven't listened to anything new since 1965 like the Beatles.

Q: What year did Paul Mccartney write Silly Love Songs?
    A: 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966.........

They were "cute". They wore matching suits and pranced about in silly movies and the world loved them. They found God in India and smoked dope and wore hippie clothes. THEY BROKE UP OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO!!!! Life goes on.....

Now, people say, oh, but when they first came out, it was so exciting! And maybe it was. Would I take away aging baby boomers fond memories? Well....But an ungodly number of Beatles fans weren't even around then, they're just carrying on the TRADITION and CONSUMING postfab MERCHANDISE from the BEATLE INDUSTRY.

"The Mundane Misery Tour is waiting to take your money away....."

Then there's the NEW records exploiting the memory of poor John Lennon-- Lennon was the DECENT Beatle, and after the poor man's dead, the rest make awful recordings of some demos he had laying around or something...I don't know the whole story, I don't keep up on Beatle trivia....but the stuff sold, of course. Why not? Necrobeatlemania!!!

We who hate the Beatles have a 60's hero--or heroine, we should say--St. Yoko, the serene angel who is said to have put an end to this dreadful association. People say YOKO ONO BROKE UP THE BEATLES!!!!! Yoko is thus forgiven for any part she might have played in the Voices from the beyond recordings as mentioned above. "I don't believe in Beatles/I just believe in me/Yoko and Me/That's Reality" --JOHN LENNON WROTE THIS, OK????? If he didn't believe in Beatles, why should you?

SO IN SHORT BEATLES = ANTI MUSIC = ANTI TALENT - THANK YOU

I will split a thread from here about "I hate Beatles". Take it there.

And a word, ckerr, it's much cooler to write your own arguments.

Not on your back. It just gives you more credibility in an argument. And I'm pretty sure there'll be a big one here soon.

So it was more friendly advice than anything.

Okay I don't hate anybody but I dislike the Beatles - I'm sure everyone will come here and disagree

Because you've chosen a side so weak (with a grand total of one member so far), and completely fail to actually listen to what we're saying.

I myself dont like alot of the Beatles songs. They're too upbeat for my tastes, not experimental enough. I do however like the later work, which experiments far more with Psychadelia. One of my favorite types of music. I always recognise their impact. They brought rock and roll into the modern world. Most bands that have hit it big cite them as an influence. They were massive. You can't deny it.

The first post tries to argue that they are outdated- is that why we still watch films from decades ago? Why we look back on history and its "better" times? Why we still revere ancient peoples even!? I've stated it many times before: my music tastes only become active with bands 1985ish onwards. Not to say I dont listen to old bands, but this is the period I like the most. Despite this I recognise the foundations of modern music. The Beatles are one of those foundations.

Music never goes out of fashion. That's why people listen to classical music written hundreds of years ago.

Phony Beatlemania? Strange how it lasted 8 years. I mean, you're trying to base an argument on four quotes written years after they broke up, even one from a guy called Mott the Hoople.

Q: What year did Paul Mccartney write Silly Love Songs?
Might I add that the 'silly' love songs ended in 1965. I will give a few examples. Helter Skelter was written in 1968 and it is about a fairground ride. She's Leaving Home details the generation gap in the 60s. Maxwell's Silver Hammer is quite obviously about an axe wielding maniac.

    They were "cute".
Sure drove millions of women (and gay men) wild. I'll even admit the George and Paul were handsome in the younger years.

They wore matching suits and pranced about in silly movies and the world loved them.
Three of which had proper plot outlines. The last, Let It Be was a documentary. Think of This Is Spinal Tap, except better.

They found God in India and smoked dope and wore hippie clothes.
Hey, everyone took drugs back then. Great news Paige!

THEY BROKE UP OVER TWENTY YEARS AGO!!!! Life goes on.....
So I suppose when Christina stops producing albums life will go on and nobody will talk of her anymore?

Now, people say, oh, but when they first came out, it was so exciting!
Probably because they revolutionized music from the very beginning and wrote their own songs. Some 130 of which are all memorable.

But an ungodly number of Beatles fans weren't even around then, they're just carrying on the TRADITION and CONSUMING postfab MERCHANDISE from the BEATLE INDUSTRY.
What's the problem? Should we not listen to Mozart's Requiem because we 'weren't even around then'? Hell maybe I should cancel my plans on visiting Austria and purchasing postfab Mozart merchandise.

"The Mundane Misery Tour is waiting to take your money away....."
I think it was a pretty decent attempt by musicians whose manager had just died.

but the stuff sold, of course. Why not? Necrobeatlemania!!!
I actually don't buy any of those.

We who hate the Beatles have a 60's hero--or heroine, we should say--St. Yoko
She's okay in my book. Except for that awful Revolution 9 she made John put together.

SO IN SHORT BEATLES = ANTI MUSIC = ANTI TALENT - THANK YOU
We may as well say most of the bands from the 1970s = ANTI MUSIC = ANTI TALENT.

One interesting thing to note is that Paul (and perhaps none of them) could read music. They instead played by ear.

Well from what your saying "millions of female fans loved Paul" they did rely on there looks!
Hardly. There were men in their 60s and 70s who enjoyed the music. Though they might have all been homosexuals.

What a drag. Too many snags.
Funny how the guy left out the middle line. All the young dudes was written by Bowie. David Bowie loved the beatles In the 1970s John Lennon wrote the song "Fame" with David Bowie and played guitar and sang on the recording. The song was David Bowie's first number one hit.

A social commentary on the state of britain in 1977, not an attack on the beatles,
During this time Strummer rarely saw his parents. He developed a love of rock music, listening to records by The Beatles and The Beach Boys, as well as American folk-singer Woody Guthrie.
"All that phony Beatlemania has bitten the dust..."
Again social commentary of the state of britain in the late seventies.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Joe_Strummer

On a personal note i knew strummer briefly in the 90s. long story short, he loved the beatles.

Q: What year did Paul Mccartney write Silly Love Songs?
    A: 1963, 1964, 1965, 1966.........
1976 when he was in WINGS, he wrote it as a reposte to a comment made by Lennon,

McCartney had been often teased by fellow Beatle John Lennon and music critics for writing lightweight, "silly love songs," and McCartney wrote this number in response.

    "I don't believe in Beatles/I just believe in me/Yoko and Me/That's Reality"
From the song God, written at the time of his resurection,in my view about his own iconic status and how he wished his life was more simple, the last line was almost blasphemy at the time but was far from an attack on the beatles. as a solo artist lennon tried to distance himself from his past but he never denied how important they were to him.

So a major lack of thought or facts went into that site, and as such the guys views are irrelevant.

Oh by the way Zimmerman is Bob Dylans real name, i doubt Lennon ever denied his love of Dylan or Elvis for that matter.
