Q's, How does this stack up agaisnt Geforce? Will one be enough or should I consider crossfire? How do I need to protect it from heat?

    HD
I really don't know anything about picking out a hard drive. They can be very expensive. I'm looking for advice as to how to find one that will "fit" my system, and how to cool it. I live in southeast Georgia, and it gets hot here. I recently inspected my PC's innards and found some of the plastic on my hard drive had started to bubble just a bit. I've been worry every since. I don't want to spend a lot of money on a PC and have stuff melt. Will one be enough or should I consider crossfire? How do I need to protect it from heat?

Is there anything I left out?

Actually the x1900 is what I'm getting soon,I m just loyal to ati=).Motherboard looks ok,I'm not keen on intel processors these days but if you want something good, you can get a am2 or a8n motherboard.I want to get a amd processor soon,I like the specs of those new x2 and fx-62's.Hey I live in Georgia too=)

Thanks, I don't care much for the AMD's since that's what I put on the first pc I built when I was 14... 6 years ago lol.... bad experience.

Is there anything really wrong with the Intels? Does anyone have any answers to any of my questions?? Specifically the power supply and HD!

Frankly, i don't know much about individual components and what you are asking specifically, but the case you are getting sounds very good. It has three fans; front, back and side. My computer was overheating a bit so i stuck a fan on the side and it became much cooler. Plus the hard drive is never going to be as hot as your cpu so i don't think it' sthat much of a worry (i'm surpirsed to here that it was bubbling?). You can check out the temperature of your components with a program like everest. I'd be interested to know what temperature you hard drive is at. Oh and 450 watts should be enough.

Sorry i can't really answer these questions but i dare say someone on here will soon.

Try to read the stickies. Also, I must say that I don't like Pentium Ds very much. Too hot. The heatsink is worse then useless. The ram ain't bad, and neither is the graphics card.

Hmm are there any Crossfire A8N32 Deluxe motherboards around or is does it already enable crossfire?

A crossfire system need one 'crossfire edition card', but you do get crossfire edition mother boards as well. But the A8N32 Deluxe dosent seem to support crossfire, and the onlt crossfire motherboards that I seen were socket 939, you should be getting socket AM2. But one X1900XT is enough for now, and the next few years. But if you still want a crossfire system, then wait for a crossfire motherboard on socket AM2.

I have heard lots of bad things about tiger direct so if it were me I'd go with newegg instead. Also, as an AMD fan boy I'd get a AM2 processor and DFI motherboard but the CPU you've selected isn't bad I'll admit. The CPU fan isn't the best but it should work fine for you if you don't overclock your processor. The memory and the graphics card are excellent choices though.

    Another vote for newegg.

The user reviews on their site are pretty useful, too.

Tiger has user reviews in stars. Plus it's just a ware house.. the stuff they sell at tiger is the same as newegg or any other place. I hear a lot of people saying things about CPU over heating on this system. I compared the specs on the fan vs. other 775 sockets and it has the highest RPM and highest CFM airflow.

I don't know what caused my HD to start to melt.. It's quite odd and scary. It's on a dell.. I only have two fans, one in the PSU, and one on the CPU. That doesn't give much circulating cool air since both are directed to a specific part.

I still need advice on a HD though, can anyone suggest one or at least a manufacturer and some specs to aim for?
I'm thinking of using this to cool my HD http://www.tigerdirect.com/applicati...4609&CatId=495

I suppose the reason I use Tiger is because my dad. He maintains all the computers at the post office and they have some sort of contract with tiger. I used tiger to build my first pc and they didn't screw me over or anything. I have also used them to buy a few other odd parts.

For the CPU fan, the important part is the heat sink, not the fan itself. You want a better unit then the same one that is included with your CPU.

My advice for the CPU is to wait untill the new Intel Conroe comes out, which is July 23. Thats a much better processor than the Pentium D.

And you don't have to worry about any hard drive cooling, a good case with a decent intake and out-take fan should be enough to cool the hard drive.
