I first became aware of the TWC roughly a year ago as I searched for modifications to improve my gameplay experience with RTW. I had played and beaten both MTW and RTW with just about every enjoyable faction and I had been looking for a way to liven it up a bit. It occured to me that my favorite game was moddable and that the modding community was very strong on sites such as TWC and TW.ORG. But there's only so much to talk about on a game like RTW and I very rarely posted anything for the first few months of membership, chiming in only occasionaly to ask rudimentary questions.

One day as I visited the site, I came upon a thread in the "latest forum posts" section that dealt with the Bush presidency. Ever the staunch supporter of George W., I felt obliged to respond. I was quick to the defense of my president but surprised at the vehemence of my opposition. Apparently there was a large body of international members who felt that every policy of the Bush administration, be it good or ill, was poorly thought out. I felt duty bound to inform them of the GOP position on all matters of state, and I set about doing it on a daily basis. To my surprise there also seemed to be a sizable number of self described "Anti-Theists" who opposed religion and its effects on history. Above all they seemed to detest the role of the Catholic Church as it has had the greatest impact on western history. As a devout Catholic, and avid historian I again felt Catholicism must be understood properly and defended against revisionists who would cast it in a bad light.

Since my initial introduction into the world of TWC many months ago I have posted numberous posts and threads on the boards on a daily basis. I have frequently commented on the numerous anti-theism and anti-Bush threads that seem to pop up with consisted regularity here. On a thread with a strong Atheistic, anti-conservative presence, I have always felt that my voice served to balance, inform, and sometimes correct the bold assertions of my peers in regards to politics and religion. With a sizable post count, a good reputation, and numerous reputation pts, I hope I have helped shape the TWC debates in a positive way. I have received many offers for sponsorship, but I've waited for Mudd to become a Patrician as I have always respected Mudd's presence on the TWC and have held his political views to be akin to my own. I would like to be a Civitate in the TWC under the patronage of Mudd and I hope to get your vote.

Well actually, when I first saw him posting I was like, “Cool. I could patronize him but, alas, his political views are so similar to mine that Staff will just think we are friends and they would “punish” us for that.” Then, I started noticing his posts were actually really good, like really good. And I decided “What the heck.” I’ll patronize him anyways, he does deserve it. And look, he does. His posts are well thought out, legible and you can understand what he is saying, even if you don’t agree with what he is saying. And that brings me to another point. His political beliefs insure that he receives a ton of flack from other members who criticize (sometimes to the point of flaming) him and battle him constantly and yet, he never flames back. He stays cool in an argument, using his sarcasm (the whole deify Bush thing is satire by the by) and intelligence to diffuse the “situation.” I don’t mean to focus on politics, and I hate to do so, but if it helps me point out his qualifications than I will. Besides the fact that his posts are really good, he is eager to be a part of the Curia. We spent about 2 hours going over current events in the Curia and I taught him all about the bureaucratic junk we love so much. I think he has a good future in the Curia, at the very least being active in the Prothalamos and Curial discussions. Sure, he can come across as bigoted, but then again....so can many other current Civitates floating the opposite direction of him. And, I personally assure you that some of it is sarcasm and satire. So, well, you know what we think about IamthePope becoming a Civitate of TWC, the rest is up to you. Go raibh maith agat.

Um, no. He's an agressive poster and he derails more than a few topics.

Aggressive poster perhaps but im not so sure about the claim of derailing conversations, all i see when i look at his posts is a lot about.. Bush and homosexuality.

Im not sure on this one, i cant see any particular evidence for not being worthy of the rank, though it must be said ignoring user notes and such isnt a good way to get ahead.

Exactly. No matter the topic that's what he posts about.

lol well good point, but that is more often than not the topic of the thread, a few of which were created by himself. Can you support your claim that he de-rails other topics?
