My game crashes
First of all, I think this mod is really great, really, I really apprieced it. I rediscovered the game with this mod.
- My first opinion after a first try that was all the units was very expensive to buy, and very expensive to upkeep. I modified the file that contain all the data for each units and lower all recruitment costs, and lower all the upkeep prices by divide them by a factor 2, for every units of every factions. That way I think the game is easier to play ( also for IA ^^ ), and allow the player to choice a larger strategy and freedom. I think that way the game is faster, and more nervous.
But my problem is not here. I have RTW 1.5 french, and XGM 4.0.10. The game crash each time the date up to 166 BC. I don't know if the date is important, but I can't do nothing to fix that. This is quite frustating because I can't even finish my game ( I have the half of the map ). I saw in the past the mod have been fixed in order to solve a problem that was occuring in 177 BC on Italian version. Could someone could tell what have been done to solve that trouble ? May be my french version game have the same trouble with 166 BC.
Hope someone can help me ( or I gonna make a suicide ^^ )
I edit my topic to say that XGM 4.0.10 is my first version, and mod, so I was'nt have any XGM version or other mod previously installed.

Re: My game crashes
Download, 4.0.11, it'll fix that crash you get in 166 BC. The upkeep was increased, because it made the game far to easy, now it becomes more of a challenge, but we have our own prefences, i play on H/H.

Re: My game crashes
Thank you for this reply.
I don't think that decrease the price of upkeep and recruitment cost make the game easier, because this is also more easier for the IA to buy new units and send it to me to crash my faction. I think that the game is more dynamic and allow more freedom to choose the units you want. In order to conquer a town you fight against more fow armies. So the game I think is not so simple that way. I also play in hard level for the campain and very hard for the battles.
Change the mod in 4.0.11 is may be a good idea, but I don't know if my saved game in 4.0.10 will be compliant with the new version, and I need to change back some files to lower the recruitment and upkeep prices.
Do you know where was located the change done to allow the game go up to 166 BC. I should prefer to change my files without download the new version of the mod.

Re: My game crashes
Savegames should be fine with upgrade, changes haven't been so radical...

Re: My game crashes
Your saved games should be fine with 4.0.11, but if you don't want to take the risk, install XGM to a folder on your desktop (or somewhere else that is convenient) and copy xgm/data/text/historical_events.txt into [Rome]/xgm/data/text/.

Re: My game crashes
My game crashes in 166 also, which was a real bummer considering how much I enjoyed this mod.

Galactus[-X-]: Install 4.0.11 or use the fix I suggested to CondateRedonum.

Re: My game crashes
Installing the new version is probably the best way to remove this trouble. But this is not usable if you changed some files to customize the game according to your own wills.
I tested the change of the file and it works well. The game was crashing because hipparcus done his catalog of 1080 stars, and there were no descriptive of this event in my language.
