problems with legate getting a general

hello guys,

my legate spend 20 years in military service, i left him 2, 3 and 4 turns in a city, but there was no promotion to a general.

can u help me?

First, make sure he has the "Former Legate" trait (he should have it by now).

Then you have to remove the "Roman Legion #" Banner from his ancillaries first. Give it to a tribune, then move the potential Praetor out of the city with 1+ Roman infantry units to get the trait and "Roman Field Army #" ancillary.

also of importance:
- Do you already have a Praetor with Field Army ancillary?
- Do you have less than 20 settlements?

if the answer to both questions is yes, you can not gain another Praetor until you have 20+ settlements (iirc).
