Why Can't My Romans Kill All This Elephants!?

The Carthaginians send lots of elephants to Italy. They end up killing many of my troops. I was holding them but they send stacks with about 5 or 6 units of elephants (plus the rest are infantry). They massacred one my legions already. What is the best tactic or units to make them panic or kill them?

Javelins. Javelins kills elephants.

Yep, javelin's.

And use hit and run tactics, stick their elephants with a bunch of javalins and then camp your armies in walled forts. Make them come to you, whittle them down because they can't easily retrain those elephants. Elephants (and most cav for that matter) don't do well going up against a wall, or maneuvering inside a defended city. They need open space.

Personally sounds like Carthage can recruit far too many, perhaps increasing training times and costs is in order- should not have to fight more than one unit of elephants

Good point, but I think it is preferable to fight elephants than to not see them at all, which is often the case in other mods.

When you play TIC as the Carthaginian you will be glad you have that elephant unit in that first battle.

I haven't actually seen the Carthaginians recruit too many elephants before, or heard a great number of reports of them doing so. There would be a problem if they put 5-6 eles in all their stacks, though... if that is the case, we will have to adjust things a bit.

the OP still hasnt said what version of RTR he's playing. i'm doubtful though that its VII...
