Default Whats Your Take On This Quote

"The eye by which I see God is the same eye by which He sees me."

I take this means that God understands you, and so does not judge you. Therefore he does not condemn you -- unless you are sadist. And even then... He'll understand a sadist can't help himself, no?

"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you." Matthew 7:1-2

I just thought this was similar to the quote you used.

    agreed - with your explanation.
or literally; i am god when i look in the mirror – who knows.

Seriously, i would go for the universal non-judgement thing. Although it doesn't sound much like the Christianity i know.

    or...

my own judgement is equivalent to how I am judged. There are many versions of the 'mirror-like' nature of divinity in many different religions, if there is a universal truth to it [which i think there is]-[interactivity, balance and how opposites work generally]. So if the space we enter after death is like this then we will essentially judge ourselves or be judged respectively in respect to amounts. Its like scales, if we have a given judgement value then a reflective natured 'space' [void] will react accordingly.

dont judge or 'IT' will judge you! i slightly more sinister version

Interesting take on it, Attila, I have another two quotes in mind, and instead of starting a new thread about this, I thought I'll share them here and see what you guys think.

    • "Every one comes between men’s souls and God, either as a brick wall or as a bridge. Either you are leading men to God or you are driving them away." Cano Lindsay Dewar

I think this quote defines in many ways, some moral questions a Christian might have. As an example, if I was a female, I wouldn't wear mini skirts in public because this might cause a fellow Christian to sin. And so I would be driving him away from God.

    • "Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and enjoy Him forever." Westminster Confession of Faith

This one is a rather interesting quote. It implies that we should be good Christians, not for fear of punishment or because we are told to glorify God, but because glorifying God is glory itself, and going to heaven isn't to have peace or pleasure, but to enjoy the company of God forever -- because God is joy, and he is the greatest pleasure anybody can have. Interesting stuff.

Goes well with the belief that God is everything.

I believe it means that how you truly feel about God, is the way he judges your faith. Just what I think it means.

To me, for god to understand me, he will need the same means to see me, as I to him, as a human being. The eye by which I see god is my meaning, my interpretation and my truth to which I see him everyday. I see a bit of him every day, every hour, every minute. He will see me the same way.

You create your own world, so to speak, if you see nothing but darkness and horror in the world then this is what you will get.
Your idea of God is a mirror of your own soul.

Thats what i take from it anyway.
