Default The day you met god! What would you ask him?

    The day you met god!

If you met god, say in a vision or after death...
Q_1. What would you ask him?
Q_2. Would you change your life and values, or do they remain so regardless?
Q_3. What would you want to happen upon entrance to this place? [below] Where would you want to go/be reborn?
Q_4. Even with infinite possibilities, would you still want 'life as you know it' i.e. An earthly existence?

The scenario: you have died/has a mystic vision and entered a 'place'/space where 'infinite potential is immediately realised' i.e. Anything that you think of can happen.
So if you visualise hell or heaven then by the power of attraction you will find yourselves 'there'!
Equally so if you think of anything earthly then you will be drawn to that world i.e. Reborn on earth!
If you could visualise another world then you would be reborn there! i.e. As an 'alien' [This is a way of externalising the potentiality – to take the meaning beyond this planet].
Many of you may be happy with rebirth in this world – if that choice was available to you, yet this is not infinitely repeatable and thus eventually you will end up at the same point you began at, with the same questions before you! Where am i, what is possible here and who is here etc?

God can be a fun idea when all prerequisites are taken out, shame religion lessens the notion with its restraints – imho.

    edit:

Firstly, everyone seams to think god is the christian god, yet it could be any number of gods and respective heavens and hells.

And that there would be 'something/someone' before them to whom they are asking the questions!

I feel the best place to start would be in the void i.e. At zero, leaving 'god' as yet undefined. Then ask your questions. He may indeed not give a damn! Or 'he' may be an entity that has no direct input into the physical, thus cannot 'act' upon any situation – perhaps the very essence of guilt fear and everything that plays on the wrongdoers mind.

Is it ethical to change a natural occurrence? Even if it means someone killing another? Perhaps god simply made the game and said 'start'. Death is quite a useful release valve when you think about it; imagine surviving a thousand battles, what would you be like in the end – limbless probably, and rather ugly.

What's the big idea with free will? It's making us miserable.

Q_2. Would you change your life and values, or do they remain so regardless?
I would know there was a god, so yes, I would.

Q_3. What would you want to happen upon entrance to this place? [below] Where would you want to go/be reborn?
I don't know ... an eternity of bliss doesn't seem so bad.

Q_4. Even with infinite possibilities, would you still want 'life as you know it' i.e. An earthly existence?
    Nah ... onwards and upwards.

    Hi justinian,

you don't already know there is a god!!!?

I don't know ... an eternity of bliss doesn't seem so bad.
Hmm define an eternity of bliss – an eternity of what? Sitting around on clouds strumming harps? - with a load of judgemental dualists and exceptionalists! [if i may] Hope they don't sing hyms too, or else im outa there!

    Nah ... onwards and upwards.
There is no 'onwards', and once there no upwards apparently? 'Heaven is a place where nothing ever happens' as the saying goes.

oh it's not judgement day also!

I would ask God how He could love me so much, that He would be willing for His Son to die on the Cross for me. What is my life worth, compared to Christ's, after all?

Q_1. What would you ask him?
    Why?

Q_2. Would you change your life and values, or do they remain so regardless?
Nothing would change. My personal values are more important to me than the whims of any god.

Q_3. What would you want to happen upon entrance to this place? [below] Where would you want to go/be reborn?
I am happy where I am at. If I wasn't here I would be a very different person. I like myself.

Q_4. Even with infinite possibilities, would you still want 'life as you know it' i.e. An earthly existence?
Yes, see my answer to Q3.

Well here's the thing. The day you meet God (Judgement Day), you don't get to ask any questions. He asks the questions.

Yes, but how can you take those teachings seriously when you can only find out what it's like to talk to God when you're dead, and thus somewhat unable to pass on the information?

Well we have established that H&G would "play" dumb in front of god.

What about the rest of you.

Why would you be unable to pass on information? I don't think I understood your question.

I wouldn't be playing dumb. I wouldn't be allowed to speak in the manner which you've suggested. I wouldn't get to ask any questions because I would be in no position to do so.

But your spirit/soul lives in the afterlife.
Yes, but you can't communicate from the afterlife to people living on Earth, so that they could write a physical book and pass on physical teachings, which is what you were basing your belief of the afterlife on.

    *ahem*

How does anyone here know what happens in the afterlife? So why talk about it as if you DO know?

Exactly my point to H&G... he's basing his beliefs of what happens in the afterlife on the teachings of religions. How would they have the slightest idea?

Well, through communication from God to men along a principle of a doctorine of divine propagation of truth. Obviously.

And I suppose God only deemed to communicate to one group of people, and all the other ones just made it up.

Divine? hardly. All we have is stories, legends to go by.

Y'know, this whole "anthropomorphising God" thing really gets under my skin. God isnt human, why do people keep wanting to turn him into this human-like figure? I hate the idea that God is this old guy with a long grey beard, sitting on a cloud somewhere. Yeah, he's a single father, he had a son, he gets angry and happy...gimme a break. As soon as people start thinking of God in human terms, its a tip off to me that nobody has the slightest clue what theyre talking about.

Those in the afterlife cannot communicate because it would give the people on Earth an unfair advantage. The whole point is to test the faith of mankind. Sure, God could come down and show himself and all of the sudden everyone would believe out of fear, but a test is more effective.

It's based on religious beliefs. If you don't believe in God then you shouldn't even participate in this thread.

The concept of the afterlife is based on religion. The concept of God is based on religion. So why shouldn't I be using the teachings of religions in a thread focused on the main aspect of these religions?

I believe in God, I don't believe in any religion's perception of God and their dogma because . . . how could they possibly get it right? Religions all exploit belief and faith for their own furthering; if God is above man, why are we supposed to believe in God only through a man-made institution?

I fail to see how organized religions are the only thing to base the belief of God on.

Your belief in God originated from a specific religion (Judaism?), and then you changed your belief to your own liking. The point is that your belief in God originated from a religion.
