Cannot find show_banners line in preferences.cfg file
I got Third Age TW and in it and in the regular Medieval 2 game the banners of units in battles have disappeared. I have searched the forums and found out I needed to open the preferences.cfg file in Notepad and then find the line show_banners=0 and change the zero to one. BUT I cannot find that line! All I see is this when I open the file with notepad:
[video]
widescreen=0
[game]
allusers=1
Any help in finding that line would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Start a vanilla campaign, yet?
Assuming Vista or Win 7, check the virtual store after unhiding all files and floders in Folder Options?

Re: Cannot find show_banners line in preferences.cfg file
I have windows vista. Don't know what virtual store is. How do I get to Folder Options? The last vanilla campaign I started was before I got Third Age and the battle unit banners disappeared. Are you saying I should start a new one now? What will that do?

Click Start, in the box above it type folder options. It wll get you there.
Users\username\appdata\roaming and inside here, you're on your own. My install is setup so no game files are in there.

Re: Cannot find show_banners line in preferences.cfg file
I fixed it. After disabling my UAC to fix a problem for Third Age all the contents of the preferences file appeared when I opened it with notepad and I was able to change the zero to one and now the banners show. You can close this thread if you want. Thanks.
