    Default SS 6.4 merchant guide

Inspired by the last discussions about merchants, I have put together this little guide to merchants in SS 6.4, which may help some people who have not followed these discussions or need a basic overview. Special thanks to vipman and Ichon for some enlightening information which has been incorporated.

The guide has mostly been assembled from my memory, ie without testing or extensive checking of game files. If you find something inaccurate, please leave a post, and I may update the guide. Comments/feedback welcome. Enjoy.

[Edit: Updated the guide to version 1.1]

Very nice bravo. no complaints after reading it

not sure if you mentioned, having level 2 of town hall (what's the name? city hall/council chambers i think) avoids getting bad traits like shady dealer and can give good traits as legal nouse.

Strengelicher, on page two you wrote:

The maximum possible number of merchants in your service is determined by the
number and level of market line buildings your faction possesses. Build and upgrade
the markets in your cities and you will be able to recruit more merchants.
I might be mistaken, but I have the impression that the level of your market buildings has nothing to do with your maximum number of merchants. You'll get one merchant per city that has a market building, it matters nothing if it's level one market or if it's a merchant's quarters or whatever it's called ...

Can you be a bit more specific? I don't think I've ever seen the ability to train more merchants when raising the level of my markets ...

I'm busy for the next 1 and a half hour; when I come back I will load my current campaign and will test this and take some pics to clarify the issue

Ah, I see there are people who want to become even MORE CUNNING than Strengelicher. Well, well. Guess I will have to add more detail to the guide some time in the future to stay ahead...

Also, I will now enable the reputation function to see how many folks really appreciate the guide. Actually, I could expand it to become a guide on the whole economy. If only I had more time...

easiest way to find if the number of agents per building level is increasing is to check the EDB, for all agents.
example, for merchants, at market building there is this line at each level: agent_limit merchant 1
most common is this to remain the same for all levels, so 1 merchant per region with market. for personal taste just modify the number, maybe put 2 at fairground and 3 at merchants quarter, maybe it will make it worth it to construct market over level 2, for who heavily uses merchants.

Hi, I can't open your guide. Did you take it down by any chance?
