What are you doing all the way over here Fatimid Navy?

So I was busy taking over Scandinavia when I noticed this little oddity.

I've seen the Fatimid navy get pretty far away from Egypt, but never past Greece or Italy. To get where they are, they would have had go through the Strait of Gibraltar, north past England, east past Norway, and gone all the way to the other side of Sweden.

I did a toggle_fow to see if they had somehow rapidly expanded to eastern Europe without me noticing, but no, their empire is still between Benghazi and Antioch. Why the heck would the navy go all the way over there?

Yes, Fatimids were quiet good at that. But seriously, I had Fatimid and Turkish ships ambushed me in English channel and prevent me from ferrying my troops and supplies from England to the continent.

In my experience, the fatimids and the turks are the only ones who know how to use a navy. I once had the entire fatimd fleet block my Crusading army, which was resting on Cyprus (I was role playing). Then, after my men had become despondent, the egyptians landed 3 armies on the island. Needless to say, I lost that army.

Yes, you right. Fatimid and to some extent Turkish navy can be very dangerous and tricky. I still remember how they destroyed my stack of 6 ships loaded with the army, diplomats, spies and my faction heir. I was on my way from Marsey to Anatolia and it's like the Fatimids knew, they waited for me and at the straits of Messina they attacked no less than 4 times, and finally they sunk my entire fleet. You have to be careful with them mate, they can appear out of nowhere and attacked you with such a ferocity and then retreat into the fog of war.

Maybe they were just exploring the map ;p

a good way to keep them occupied though is to send a couple of spies into eastern europe (russia area) and middle east area and map out some of the cities.

then send a diplomat over to the mongols and give them the map information free.

that should keep them occupied for a while so you can expand your empire in relative peace >_>

I'm not worried about them attacking. I just thought it was really weird that they'd be all the way out there.

I agree about those two being the ones how now to use a navy, but I'd like to add something: DENMARK.

I MEAN I WAS PLAYING WITH ARAGON AND THIS

DENMARK STARTS THROWING A HUGE NAVY OF LIKE 500 SHIPS AT ME EVERY SINGLE TURN

THEY WERE THE INEXPLICABLY THE BOSSES OF THE MEDITERRANEAN FOR NO REASON

I LOST MANY ARMIES AND SETTLEMENTS BECAUSE THEY WOULDN'T STOP BEING PRICKS

WHAT DO THEY GAIN FROM IT?! WHAT'S THE POINT?!
