Default difficulty, general rules and atmosohere killer

    hi there,

i was wondering if there is a set difficulty which should be chosen to play and if there are any other rules that need to be obeyed to make the modification work properly in a campaign. is there a "right" unit scale, or is it completely up to the player?

i only did a couple of custom battles to look at those fantastic cities but noticed a serious problem with the atmosphere: on one hand there are soundfiles playing that came right with the mod when you click on a unit like the dunedain rangers. on the other hand basic files from the vanilla game are used for orders and a couple of units like archers. that would not be a problem if i had the english version of the game, but since i am german those voices are german too. the mix of languages is just weird and kills the atmosphere of a battle especially because the main voice used in the game is the german voice of George Clooney, so I basically have doug ross from ER yelling "BOOOGENSCHÜTZEN" (those are archers), "AAAANGRIIIFF" (charge) and so on. does anyone have an idea how to fix this or where i could get english soundfiles to replace the german ones? i googled a bit but only found solutions concerning the steamversion of the game, but i have the DVD version. also, would replacing any soundfiles interfere with the campaign so i schould not start one?

    hope anyone has an idea

    thanks

I have played many campaigns on VH/VH but lately I have been playing all M2TW mods on M/M cause I think it is funnier. It avoids some frustration moments and I have enough frustrations in real life to have them on video games, hehehehehehe.

The game is meant to be played on VH/VH (says so in the first message you get at beginning of any campaign) which is what I always play in TW games, and Huge unit scale. (default and largest setting). I play it on Normal scale though, because I'm on my laptop.

As for your soundfiles, I have no idea how to fix that. Sounds funny. I would guess someone here would have other language versions of M2TW and should be able to help you though,

I had this problem myself, too. I had installed MTW2 in german but the mod is all in english so like you said it was partly german and partly english. I have no idea how to fix this so if you want everything in english i am pretty sure there's no other solution than completely reinstalling everything.
But, if you want everything in german there is a solution because you can get a submod somewhere which changes the whole thing in german

I know the problem as well, but for me it's not that bad.
maybe some of your soldiers speek different dialects, lucky they're in the same regiments ;-)
perhaps you should post this issue in the suggestionthread. then KK maybe can erase the german soundfiles and provide us with 100%english ones in a future 3.3 or whatever.
some of the teammembers are german (KK himself- idk?) so they perhaps know, which soundfiles to change...

It's perhaps not a complete solution to your problem, but ...

In sound options you can lower the volume (or even mute) voices while keeping the music and other sounds.
