System help for Optimal RTW Carnage!

Hey Guys!

I'm really considering upgrading my PoS (piece o' poo) computer for one that can handle the best of what CA can throw (rome 2 hopefully)... I love rome and am sick of playing it on the lowest quality with the smallest unit size and getting awful fps etc. I was hoping you veterans can give some advice on what to look for (either type, or details on graphics card or ram etc.) to better my playing experience...

I'm a total noob with computer language and am looking to get a system on the cheaper side(<$1000 if possible)

The little that I know is that AMD has been where it's at for a while with CPUs that go well with TW games. I think Bulldozer has been rubbish for it though (I may be getting confused, but I think Shogun 2 didn't even run properly on them). So go with an Ivy Bridge instead. I'll get this moved to the Basement where there are people who'll be able to offer much more help than me.

It's best wait until we know for sure if it is Rome2 and what the specs are.

If you want an idea of a rig for the present (Shogun2/FotS), read the S2 Tech forum, read the dxdiags posted and their playing results with their computers.

And having a stuff-off-shovel PC won't actually help with the older RTW anyway as it doesn't take advantage of multi-cores, top end gfx etc. It's an old game but even so, unless you have a really ancient PC it shouldn't be playing at lowest unit levels.

Still, as Irishron says, buy a PC for what you can play now, not what you may be able to play in the future, just buy something that can be upgraded. Your best bet, give the actual budget you have and what your current specs are, you may have bits that don't need upgrading and then you can spend more money on other components.
