Default Brian Cox and the Wonders of the Universe

So what do you think of this guy? What do you think of the show?

Personally I think he's underrated, I just can't think of really any other physicists traveling the world to showcase breath taking landscapes in order to make documentaries about the universe everyone can understand.

I find his style rather poetic, and I will admit as he is rather soft spoken at first I was like meh, but then I began to watch and I really think he does an excellent job at describing our world and how things work.

So what do you think of his inspirational science? Does he have the potential to be the next great face of Physics and Cosmology?

Now before you judge too quickly give him a chance, just sit back and watch when you have some time.

    Here's his wiki

He's a bit of a but his shows have done a lot to bring science back to the mainstream media, so I'm prepared to forgive him that. As for the show, Jim Al-Khalili's are better in terms of content, just with less pretty pictures. They are pretty good though.

There is always something lost when you try to explain physics with words and images. At the end of the day the language of physics is mathematics, and just like a poem, something is always lost when you translate it.

Feynman is really the only popularizer of physics who tried his best to explain modern physics mathematically to laymen. Cox does not.

(There is a portion of a Feynman lecture about this which is absolutely brilliant, at least as I remember it. I'll try and hunt it down.)

I'll never forget how Feynman compared a fat girl jumping in a pool to the way atoms billions of miles apart can still "communicate" and are linked and that this is a method of observing that which is far away from us. Feynman and Sagan are still the only scientists who made advanced science more or less understandable for me. The rest are just on an egotrip. It's all about the location or their outfit instead of conveying a scientific message.

The thing with Faynman, while someone like myself can appreciate his lectures and find some enjoyment out of listening to him, I can't see your average person willing to do the same, he just doesn't have that 'flow' if you don't find his voice relaxing.

    I think he's annoyingly over-effeminate, a bit like a limp handshake.

What do you think of the show?
I'd rather watch or be inspired by Neil deGrasse Tyson any day of the week.

I watch the show with my Son for educational purposes.

He reminds me far to much of the "I'm a Mac" guy. Something about him makes me want to punch him.

Wow I'm surprised that there's so much hate surrounding a man who just loves life and wants to share a bit of what he's learned with us..

Its not what he says, but how he says it. And his stupid face.

Brian Cox is okay, but Neil de Grasse Tyson is better. And not because of the memes.

He was also part of the band that sang "things can only get better". His programs are ok - not great, but a lot better than some of the on tv these days.

He is implying that he is God.

Give me Morgan Freeman any day.
As a teenager, I was taken to various houses and flats above takeaways in the north of England, to be beaten, tortured and raped over 100 times. I was called a “white slag” and “white ****” as they beat me.

He is okay in my eyes: his language is fluent and captivating and most importantly he is capable to share his excitement with public. Though some episodes of his shows looks like some kind of vacation (e.g. he goes to barely relevant place in order to say abstract one liner).
