    Default Venus

So who watched any of it? Who watched any of it live with a telescope?

My old friend from college has a telescope so he comes up with the cool idea of everyone going to the park and watching Venus. We're all like YEA COOL. And we do. We get there about when it starts, but there are clouds, just a few. We get set up, and the sun peeks through. Long enough for everyone to get about a ten second view of Venus. Clouds come in again, and there's no break. We wait around anyway, just in case. We chill for two hours, and the park closes. On the way home, the sun comes out again just long enough to blind us as it sets.

    The sun be trollin' us.
One thing is for certain: the more profoundly baffled you have been in your life, the more open your mind becomes to new ideas.

Let's think the unthinkable, let's do the undoable. Let us prepare to grapple with the ineffable itself, and see if we may not eff it after all.

I didn't watch any of it when it was happening, but I just watched this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=4Z9rM8ChTjY showing venus passing the sun. Its pretty incredible actually - well worth watching if you haven't already.

I haven't the pleasure of actually seeing the whole thing live. But watching the videos on youtube, and all I can say is: God it is beautiful!
