Cannot uninstall game because of the patch 1.2

Today I installed the patch 1.2 of Medieval 2 Total War. After the patch was installed the game stopped working so tried to uninstall it. Now there are no files in my computer related to Medieval 2 (any of them. There is only the Sega folder, but it's empty) and I can't uninstall the game because it says that I need to uninstall the 1.2 Patch first, but i don't know how to do that.

Any help?

Try to clear the registry. Use CCcleaner maybe works.

It doesn't seem to work, but thanks for helping me. The thing is that there is apparently nothing left in my computer related to Medieval 2, but when i try to run it I can't because it's not installed and when I try to delete/7uninstall it I can't because it says that the patch 1.2 is installed and that I have to uninstall it first.

What am i supposed to do? I like this game really bad and I want to play it but there is no way I can.

PS: The game is legal, I bought it at a store. I've played it before.

The uninstaller can be finicky at times on newer OS's. Try this - http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...Total-War.html

Maybe something was left behind in your Registry. What version of Windows do you have? Also have you gained full Admin rights? Good luck!

Thanks guys it worked!!
The problem was that I had not deleted the patch files in the InstallShield folder. Thanks for your help. I'll probably reply if the game doesn't work again, but by now everything is fine, I can re-install it.

You know, I think I'm becoming stupid or something because the game doesn't work now either. It is installed and everything seems right but when I launch it a message appears telling me to "insert the correct CD-Rom and restart the application". Do you have any idea of what is going on? I used to play this game a lot, it's not the first time I play it on this PC but these problems are new, I had never had any problems with the game before.

Any help?

PS: I think I'm going to have to take some course in technology because I feel like I am a "computer fixing noob".

That's Securom thing. You have to retry a few times. It might be a problem if you have installed in many computers before.

Base on my experience, my own Med2/Kingdom DVD don't like having cd emulation programs like daemon tools running or installed in your pc. If you have don't run it or uninstalled it altogether.

Seconded. Emulation programs and virtual drives make the M2 version of Securom flag the game as pirated even when it isn't.

Daemon Tools is a program suite that allows one to setup a virtual drive. You either have it installed or not. If you do then go to the Start button, select [Control Panel] and look for [Add/Remove Programs]. It's there you'll have the option to remove the program. Also look for Nero - this version of Securom hates it as well. Good luck!

I can't delete Daemon Tools because they are not installed in my PC (so it's fine) but I don't want to delete Nero, is there anything I can do?

PS: I used to play this game on this same computer about 6 months ago and I have only played it on this computer. Could it be a program that I have installed recently or something?
PPS: I also have this problem with Rome: Total War (the "insert correct CD" error) so if I can solve this problem for Medieval II I hope I'll be able to play Rome too.

Does your dvd-rom read all your other dvds and cds okay?

Now there is no need to do that anymore, the game suddenly works! Two days ago the CD icon on my computer disappeared, so I couldn't even have the option to launch the game. I looked for solutions on the internet and found how to restore the icon to be able to access the CD. Today I accidentally launched the game (I tried to click on a shortcut and opened MD2 accidentally) and it worked!

Still, thanks for helping me throughout this problem.
