Default MTW Customer check - who's going to buy MTW 2

Now...as MTW 2 is approaching I would love to know about the possible clients of MTW2 just to see if CA (sorry...it is Sega) can attract large numbers of customers from a fan basis or if there are even people on this forum who are just looking forward to MTW 2 without having played any RTW games.

I have been playing MTW 1 as the first game in the TW Series. I have tried Shogun but loved MTW 1 for its variety. Of course I used several Mods (XL/Fall of Rome/NTW etc...) over time, but I have been playing it for a very long time and still like it today.

R:TW was "meh", even with mods. I still play M:TW and S:TW fairly regularly.

I'll probably buy it. My computer probably won't run it well, but I will probably buy it.

I never played Shogun at the time except the demo when it first came out - and my computer wouldnt run it. I loved Medieval though, probably more so than Rome in some respects, but when i got Shogun on budget later on, it didnt compare too favourably to medieval, as im sure medieval would to Rome now.

Which of course is the reason i expect MTW2 to be such a fine game, its clearly a winning formula, my only fear is that the effect of the formula becomes less gripping in each incarnation of the series.

Shogun - imo - still remains unsurpassed not just in the total war series, but in the whole RTS genre. The atmosphere & unit balancing throughout the game was a joy to behold. Were Medieval and Rome good games, of course, but general structure of both of these games changed little (besides the obvious cometics, and Rome's revamped campaign map style) Shogun is still my favourite, simply because it was the first, and because it was the simplist. Saying that, I will still be purchasing M:TW2, although I hope beyond hope they bring back a checker-board campaign map - but keeping with Rome's free-form roaming - essentially a map within a map, with the checker-board map representing the larger "world map" and the the Rome esque map within the individual provinces.

I have played STW to the death, absolutely loved and worshipped MTW and I have played modded versions of RTW ever since it came out. And I will be getting MT2W. I mean, MTW, my baby, in full 3D? HELL YES!

I'm quite disappointed with what I've seen and heard of MTW:2, but I am going to purchase it regardless because there is no other game like the TotalWar series.

I have been playing TotalWar since Shogun.

I got Shogun free with my computer and I loved the historical aspect of it. I really liked Shogun for its uniqueness. It was really interesting and portrayed a culture and period that had never been covered in games before .

Since then I've gotten every TotalWar game, bar Spartan warrior and Alexander TotalWar.

judging from the videos it's not gonna be worth my time. I could probably find some enjoyment in modding it, but the frustration I got from RTW (esp MP) didn't justify that. If I would just get the game to mod it (like I did with BI, which certainly wasn't worth the €35) then I'm better off getting it in "illegal ways". But I seriously doubt I'll have the desire to mod for a game that's was no fun for me in it's vanilla form (again).

been playing since ShogunTW and long back for the tactical gameplay that put thinking over rushing OP units.

Are there people on this forum(Medieval 2) who won't buy it or even blag it illegally(as one individual said they would, wasn't reffering to you Adherbal)?

I do find it odd, that I still want to game when I have being playing the series since Shoggy(before that a wargamer), infact when that little puppy came out I bought a PC just to play it and have either upgraded or bought a new PC for each sucessive release(max settings is the only way to play for me)

RTW's(and it's Mods) hardware has been placed in my study with my 22" monitor and 7.1 speakers and I will need another upgrade for Med2, so this suggests I take my Warmongering as somewhat of a prioity.

Like most of us I am at least mildly intrigued as to how good Med2 will be, and believe that it will be at least a good blast, at least the skins look quite good, with BI they were so kidi-ish in colours and design/type that I couldn't play it ala'vanilla.
where CA perphaps fail to meet the needs of us more ardent Historical and gameplay buffs, then perphaps the modders can help out?

Haven't played the first MTW, thats why this 2nd edition is going to get so fun! I'm finally able to play in the Medieval era. Voted option nr 3.

Yes, I have been playing total war since Shogun.
I will more than likely buy MTW2 unless I discover something about the game that prevents me from doing so,..like system specs or something.

It should be pretty good looking back at CA's track record. But who knows...
Jus have to wait and get more firsthand info on the game. I'm not going to rush out and buy it the minute it hits the store shelves.

I will definetly buy MTW2. I loved the first MTW, and actually started the Total War series with Viking Invasion (off of EBAY). Im keeping fingers crossed for MTW2, hope it is as good or better then RTW. Of course RTW is about all I do now. Heck, I dont even work anymore....!!!
