Default Nvidia driver updated makes my games lag.

Ai, as the title says. If I update my nvidia drivers to the most recent ones of the 3xx series,
my games starts to lag horribly. I must thus revert to the 296 drivers.

I have no idea why it's like that and I mostly wonder if anyone here in the "basement" has any answers or ideas to share about the problem?

( I would like to use the latest drivers mostly because I play alot of Skyrim and they have been recommended since the updates seem to help alot with the FPS in that particular game, can manage without it but I am also worried that something might be wrong.)

I have a GTX 460, Intel Dual core and 6 gb RAM. Windows 7.

The games affected I have tried are: Stalker games, TWgames and Skyrim.
Minecraft is not affected. Neither is Mount and Blade nor the Mass Effect series. I have no idea what to do with this.

If it rolls back and works fine, don't worry about it. People release crappy drivers. Just wait for the next batch, and they will probably fix the issue.

do you have afterburner or any other program to check your core clock in realtime?

there's a bug with the new drivers where cards are downclocking when they're not supposed to. NVIDIA is already looking at it. might not be your problem but you should check.

    Thank you guys.
I will stay with the old driver til the next one.

snuggans: Yeah. My GTX 460 is factory overclocked actually. So I guess that must be the reason for the lag since everything is working okay otherwise.
