There has been a little discussion about this topic in the OOC thread (I think) and Barry has given me support to make this a public proposal. Feel free to criticise (constructively if possible) and suggest any changes that you think need to be made.
Squires are commonplace in Westeros, and are normally young boys (12-16 or so) from a noble house. The purpose of a squire is to gain experience from a knight in order to eventually become one, and also to form stronger bonds between the house of the knight and the house of his squire. A squire performs basic duties for a knight, polishing and fitting his armour, tending to his horses etc, in return for training in battle and other aspects of the knightly profession. A squire may also be expected to ride into battle alongside his master, but after a while, if the knight believes he is ready, may be made into a knight by his master.
In this game, this could be represented through a squire rank, with an income of perhaps 4000 dragons to show that they are of a noble house and would have some money to their names. This would allow young male characters a path to knighthood as well as a chance to make some money and create some great RP. Unless explicitly stated, the squire will likely follow his master around for all RP.
Thoughts?
