    Default New Bug

I've been searching google and various forums for any sign of a bug that I've been experiencing, and there doesn't seem to be anyone else mentioning it =/.

When I'm attacking (defense untested) a settlement, during the battle, towers don't change hands. When I run a unit through the gate tower, or a tower on the wall, the defending faction does not lose control of that tower. However, the gates do change hands.

So I end up mounting the walls taking the gate whilst being shot at by these towers, and I run the rest of my army through the gate, and then I can take the settlement. But I can't do this without taking extremely heavy loses, particularly at castles, and its even cost me several victories.

Does anyone have an explanation? My game is fully patched. I haven't played Kingdoms at all yet, so I don't know if I'll have the same problem there, though I doubt I would.

They should not change hands until you run them out or kill them. You get control of the gate(s) when you break them down and rush your army through them. Same waay with towers.

If you're in the tower when the oppsing army attacks, and the attack is repelled, you live another day. If the wall is breached and the gates overrun, you position in the tower is a suidide mission and the only thing you can do is take out as many as you can before they kill you.

I played Rome: Total War for close to 5 years before getting this game. I know how the towers are supposed to work, but they won't do it.

If the wall is cleared entirely, and all the enemy are sitting in the town center, I can run a unit along the wall through the little doors on each of the towers and they don't change hands. By tower, I mean the things built into the wall itself that fire arrows at me, not a siege tower or anything like that. And yeah, getting control of the gates is no problem. I can break them and run through, or run a unit through the gatehouse and they become mine (but the gate's 2 towers will continue to shoot).

Its not the way I'm playing or not knowing what I'm doing, for sure, but thanks for the reply =]

I'm not 100% sure, but I think that is how M2TW was made. I don't think it allows for the towers to change hands in the middle of the battle like it did for Rome

Interesting, I hadn't thought of that. A pain in the a**, but being more challenging isn't a bad thing.

However, you're the only one that's suggested that so far. Everyone else (friends, etc) say its weird and it works fine with them. Either they don't know what I'm talking about, or the problem runs deeper.

It would not be the only thing changed from RTW to M2TW.I would not be surprised if CA did change it.

I've been dealing with the "bug" by just going into sieges with excess ballista/catapults. Take out the towers and I have nothing to worry about. But I'm updating this thread once more for the sake of others with a similar question.

A friend of mine got the exact game I did, Gold, off steam, fully patched. His plays like RTW, where once he has a unit of troops run through the little door of a tower, that tower fires arrows at his enemies. Where mine has the towers permanently in the defender's control. I looked elsewhere, and saw other people have a situation where the towers only shoot when a unit is standing next to them, and whoever's unit is standing next to the tower is the team it shoots for (they also said they were fully patched). So, I'm not sure, but I've figured out my personal way around the problem. =]

Hi, i also have a big and nasty bug, that i didn`t found it on any forum. My time scale is set to default, 2.0 and the time passes on corectly, 2 years per turn, still, my generals get old with only 6 months per turn. And that`s annoying because they will live far too much, and this is too imbalanced. I only modified in descr.strat the thing with the factions, but nothing else. So, does any one has a solution? And of course, any other character, like agents or captains get older at the same time rate. My game worked properly first time when i played it with France, but secondly, on Poland`s campaign, things got nasty. I hope i`ll get some answers and i`ll be able to solve the matter Thx in advance, nice day to you!

It's not a bug. CA did it intentionally after players griping about the timescale in RTW.

In the decsr_strat.txt, set it to .50, delete the map.rwm, start a new campaign, and enjoy the rewards.
