Can someone explain me why are so many celebrities associated or even members of Scientology ?

It's an irritating fact that these people who seem reasonable and intelligent ( and are role play models for millions of people ) are followers or associated in some other way to one of the sects with dumbest believes i heard in my life .

There is a of of stoner's in holly wood dude..Why does scientology seem any weirder than a Jewish zombie who turns water into wine then floats into a make believe realm up in the stars and burns peoples souls in hell for all eternity.

Since most actors are neither reasonable nor intelligent, don't be fooled that because they play smart people that they are intelligent themselves.

Not that i love Christianity but at least most of Christians are raised like that , and Christianity has some rationality compared to those guys .

I'm not saying they are all Teslas,Newtons or Platos but they have surely some basic rationality .

I would wager that high profile actors and celebrities are less rational than others, I mean some of they have wanted to become celebrities even since they were children and are constantly vying for attention.

Maybe because most of them don't live normal lives (due to the characteristics of their job, and/or fame), and are destabilized in some ways. Though I'd wager that there are plenty of actors who are just normal Joes in everyday life. It's just that eccentrics and lunatics make better headlines.

Can you explain to me why this belief of theirs irritates you so?

Because there was strategic decision to target celebrities early on. While the run of the mill converts have to slog their way through the Church heirachy, the celebrities are lavished attention and care on.

Yeah, Hubbard decided targeting celebrities was the way to go. Plus, celebs have heaps of cash so the $200,000 or so it costs to become a level 3 Thetan or whatever they call it isn't out of their reach. They can feel so advanced and superior because of the size of their wallets.

Possibly for the same reason celebrities become involved with any pseudo faith. People with fragile egos need constant pandering from as many sycophants as they can muster.. Kabbalah is another bunch of horse dung where, if you pay enough, you can have sycophants on line 24 hours a day to tell you how bright your star is shining.

I find alcohol is a fair substitute for those with shallower pockets..

The Actual Kabbalah =/= The Occult Pop Kabbalah

It's still a bit crazy, but it's a "legit" thing. It's like the quantum mechanics of Judaism.

You don't just do Kabbalah because it's trendy, you've got to be like a black belt in Judaism to even start down that path or you'll go crazy.

I mean I'd want to know my stuff pretty good if I'm going to be summoning demons and stuff.

Why do people always compare Jesus to a Zombie, when if you're going to compare him to any undead he's clearly got more in common with a Vampire.

Influential and charismatic, plus ability to fly/levitate.

The original folklore vampires were not influential or charismatic though, they were more akin to zombies than one would think considering our idea of modern day vampires.

I can't say why celebrities are drawn to Scientology. For all I know a church member came to their house, did some magic tricks and convinced the celebrity they were miracles. A large segment of Hollywood is atheist and shows a disdain for religion.

It sort of removes certain uncertainties that allow the celebrities to focus, or at least that's the impression I got from Tomcat.

A interview with a vampire that stared Tom Cruise (me) was really about Jesus and the sin of eating the forbidden fruit??
I was going to say its all about conning money from people who are superstitious the bible is the most sold book in the world making a tidy profit for the Religion. The church collections are the same as Scientology master lizard priests asking for donations.

I'm not sure, I do find Scientology exceedingly strange, but I'm a live and let live kinda guy. Why do so many singers and athletes convert to Islam or Buddhism? They've obviously found something that impacted them deeply. I'm not going to judge them on that.

Religions that emphasize introspection and personal growth don't appear threatening, compared to the ones that deliberately infiltrate the FBI and other law enforcement agencies.

Scientology is no more retarded than other recent religions, say.. Mormonism. (Jesus in america.?.. Really?) The difference is that their business model is more straightforward in terms of aggressiveness than the others.

Basically its an unscrupulous commercial enterprise. A successful one at that.

Actually I'd say Mormonism would be more reasonable than Christianity, after all it's kind of retarded that Jesus would ONLY show up in some backwater like Judea, if it weren't for the whole Joey Smith being a con artist preying on the documented most gullible community in the country.

Jesus showing up numerous times in numerous places would be a bit more sensible. Not as sensible as just appearing to everyone at once and being like Hey there, I'm Joshua.

I mean if Jesus appeared to everyone at once I'd be like "Okay, I'll give you my time, go on." It's still a stretch to assume he's God just because he's able to appear in over a billion places at once, but it'd give him some credit.

Well Jesus showing up ONLY in Judea had quite the effect even though it was a backwater right

More than can be said about any of the new religions.

But yeah, all religions are full of logical holes, just usually not as jarring as Scientology.
