BadEgoGM One Day Tournaments!

Hello! Today I hosted the first ever BadEgoGM One Day Tournament! I will host these tournaments randomly a few times every month. There will be no set date but i will usually aim for around one a week sometime between Thursday and Sunday. They will all be elimination style tournaments with best of 1 matches. They will usually be 1v1 tournaments with any avatar allowed. Sometimes i might do 2v2, 2v2 with randomized teams, S2 avatars only, or classic battle format. I will usually do 1v1 with any avatars allowed though.

Each tournament will be announced roughly 1 hour before it starts. I will announce it with an Announcement in the BadEgoGM steam group. So make sure you are a member of this group so you see the announcement. I will also make a post in this thread at the same time as i make the announcement. You will need to make a post inside of the BadEgoGM steam group announcement to register for each tournament though. You must also be present in the BadEgoGM group chat room at the time the tournament is specified to start. If anyone is not in the chat room at the start they might be replaced. So if you missed the sign up you can join the chat room and possibly replace someone who was registered but not present. Make sure you are a member of this steam group to register and participate in each tournament:

I will be hosting another one day tournament today (BadEgoGM One Day Tournament #2) Sign ups are now open. The tournament will start at 17:00 GMT. To sign up you need to join the BadEgoGM steam group http://steamcommunity.com/groups/BadEgoGM and make a comment on the announcement i made in that group called "BadEgoGM One Day Tournament #2" There is a cap of 16 entrants so sign up quickly to make sure you get a spot. If you have signed up you must be online and in the BadEgoGM group chat room at exactly 17:00 GMT.

The Format:
When the tournament starts i will create and publish a bracket on challonge.com where everyone can go to find who there opponents are. It will be an elimination type tournament and every match will be only 1 game (best of 1) to determine the winner.

The rules:
Any avatar can be used.
Large funds
Large unit size
Dojos Enabled
clear weather
2 max missile cavalry
5 max per unit
8 max cavalry
Maps will be chosen at the beginning of each round by myself.

The prize:
The prestigue and the recognition by your peers as the winner.
You will be the player of the week in the BadEgoGM group untill the next One Day Tournament
I will make a YouTube video for the final match in this tournament. So if you make it to the final match make sure to save your replay and then send it to me afterwords.

Are you going to mix avatar levelled generals or are you going to make set it up that a level 5 plays a level 5?

Also for those who want to be funny and troll the thread or just post off topic nonsense i 'll add this as an official warning not to do so. Don't disturb this effort created for those who play Multyplayer. Be serious or bear the consequences of your actions.

It would be too hard to organize the structure by avatar level. Plus then the bracket would not be truly random which is what every wants for fairness i think.

I did have the idea though, once these become more popular, to do 2 separate tournaments at once. A tournament for experienced players, and a separate tournament for beginners or people who are rusty or have low level avatars. The players can then choose which one of the 2 tournaments to enter and it will be an honor code for experienced players to not enter the beginners tournament.

Yeah would be better, players with low experience troops will loose from players with high levelled veterans.

(In this response i will be announcing the date and times for the next 2 tournaments)

All of this advice i have received will be incorporated into the next tournament:
I was suggested to announce the tournaments a bit more ahead of time so interested parties could make themselves online and available when registration started. I have also received a lot of requests for a Shogun 2 avatar only tournament with no Fall of The Samurai avatars allowed. I have also received requests to host some of the tournaments a bit later in the day because the last two tournaments were too early in the morning for some people. (It was done so early to make it a time that would be playable by most people in western Europe) I will rotate the times a bit more now. Hopefully there will eventually be a tournament at a time convenient to everyone's timezone at some point. This next tournament will be at a time convenient to Americans.

The next tournament will be hosted tomorrow, Friday, at 24:00 GMT (AKA Saturday at 00:00 GMT). Registration will start at 23 GMT. To register you will need to make a reply inside of the announcement i will make on the BadEgoGM steam page after 22 GMT. Make sure you are a member of the BadEgoGM steam group if you want to register. This tournament will be Shogun 2 avatars only, no Fall of The Samurai avatars allowed. This tournament will be capped at 16 entrants so sign up early, when the registration first starts, to make sure you get a spot

I will also be hosting another tournament on Sunday at 19 GMT. Registration will start at 18 GMT. To register you will need to make a reply inside of the announcement i will make on the BadEgoGM steam page after 18 GMT. Make sure you are a member of the BadEgoGM steam group if you want to register. Any avatars will be allowed in this tournament. In this tournament on Sunday i will actually be hosting 2 tournaments simultaneously. I will host two tournaments capped at 16 entrants each. I will host a regular tournament and a beginners tournament. So when you register make sure to specify which of the two tournaments you want to enter when i start the registration on Sunday. Hopefully the beginners tournament will create a a pleasant, but still competitive, atmosphere for beginners so they can enjoy and compete in a tournament where they have a chance to compete against others players of a similar skill level. I reserve the right to reject anyone from the beginners tournament if i deem them too skilled to be competing in it. Please leave the beginners tournament to beginners. If you have adequate skill enter the regular tournament.

The 3'rd ever BadEgoGM One Day Tournament took place earlier today. It was the first ever Shogun 2 avatars only BadEgoGM One Day Tournament. It was also the first BadEgoGM One Day Tournament i participated in myself. The final match was played by myself, -Silent-Pariya, and P¡N€©° AG.

EDIT: I will be starting the registration for the tournament on Sunday 1 hour earlier since it is a larger field of players required. Registration will start at 17 GMT, tournament will start at 19 GMT.

EDIT: EDIT: I will no longer have a max of 16 players in tournaments. Even if the player field is doubled from 16 to 32 players all it will do is add 1 extra round which would equate to about a 30-45 minute longer tournament which is not so bad.

These tournaments will start roughly 2 hours after this Announcement was made. These tournaments will start at 19 GMT+0. To sign up you need to be a member of this group and you need to make a comment inside this announcement to register. Earlier today the 4'th ever BadEgoGM One Day Tournament took place. It was initially going to be two separate tournaments, a regular tournament and a beginners tournament, and both would not have a maximum number of players who could enter meaning as many could enter each as wanted. Not enough people signed up for the beginners tournament though so we instead had one large tournament, which was the largest BadEgoGM One Day Tournament to date.

In the end the final match to decide the champion was played by Aggony1Pain1PrusssianPrince and [7Son]Sprint. PrussianPrince had finished in second place in the BadEgoGM One Day Tournament #2 and Sprint had finished first in the BadEgoGM One Day Tournament #1. So both these players had already had stellar performances in previous BadEgoGM tournaments. Who will win this one? Watch the video!

Seems like that "mine" doctrine in FotS that I somehow naturally devised by myself is a way to go - having powerful line infantry + strong yari ki's. Of course having few melee units /dependent on map could be good thing as well where map is with plenty of hills /forest or other obstacles . I usually take 1 shogitai and 1 spear levy. I really like my 1 unit of imp. guard cav too, mobility can be useful in stationary line inf. combat. My friend advised me that having double lines of line inf. could be quite useful as well.

I personally don't like arty but when you don't have it and other guy does, he forces you to attack /while he camps and tactical advantage of that is substantial. While your men get in position to fire, good portion of them is dead already.

PrussianPrince finished second in the BadEgoGM One Day Tournament #2 and won the BadEgoGM One Day Tournament #4. Hello. I will be hosting another tournament this Saturday. The BadEgoGM One Day Tournament #7 will start this Saturday, July 7'th, at 17:00 GMT. I am opening the registration for this tournament a few days in advance, which is unique to the previous tournaments where registration only opened a few hours before the tournaments. I am hoping this one will be quite large in scale due to the larger span of time in which you can register and be a unique and fun experience for all involved. The signup has opened and there is no limit on how many people can register. You can signup anytime before it starts on July 7'th at 17:00 GMT.
