It shows the "homeland" of the different factions as factions gain bonuses (can also be negative) dependant on what culture they have in comparison to the cultural building, and on "homeground" most factions gain the most bonuses.

Ok, but i thought the Cimbrii, Dacia and the Gallaeci were of the same culture, given that they share the same barracks.

See how a computergame like rtw vanilla can make you believe things that weren't like that before just
because they are using the same barracks for two different cultures.

The purpose is to show quickly what settlement has what cultural buildings. This information can come in handy for some expansions plans ...

Neat but, I still don't honestly get what it shows. Not to be pain . . . but, doesn't each city vary compared to others to some extent?

For example, your map shows all of southern Italy, Corsica and Sardinia as well as most of Siciliy being part of one group. But I know for a fact that you cannot build all the same units in all the settlements in all those areas.

Capua (maybe one other one?) allows you to build Campanian cavalry. Corsica (but I don't think Sardinia) allows you to build those special Corsican archers. The settlements at the extreme southeastern end of Italy (Tarentum and at least the next one to the southwest too) allow you to build Cretan archers . . .

Is that not what this map is intended to show?

It shows the "homeland" of the different factions as factions gain bonuses (can also be negative) dependant on what culture they have in comparison to the cultural building, and on "homeground" most factions gain the most bonuses.
Does this map have more to do with the effects of cultural buildings and which cultural buildings can be built?

Thanks in advance for explaining. Cannot say I fully comprehend this part of this mod yet and have so far just flown by the seat of my pants.

The map just shows what "cultural and economical building" (i think this is the exact name), which is the very first (top left) building of any city (except the one city in the top right corner of the map, which doesnt have such a building).
The only thing this building does is grant different bonuses or penalties depending on what faction owns the settlement in question, for example selecuids get 15% happiness in settlements with greek culture but nothing in settlements with eastern (parthian) culture.

I hope this clarifies things for you.

Ahh, okay. So, all the other 'cultural and economical buildings,' the various temples and such, those are or are not dependent on the groupings shown in this map. Or are they strictly dependent on prededent buildings have been built in the settlement?

I get the impression that: each faction has its own set of cultural buildings (temples mostly, but some other ones too), and no faction can start any other chain of these than its own type. However, if you take over a settlement in which there is already infrastructure from another faction (say for example I as Cimbri take over a Belgae [Celtic] town) then if you do not demolish the existing cultural buildings, you can continue to elaborate that chain?

Is that right? Anyone have a link to a good succinct description of how this stuff works in this mod?

No. Every faction has some buildings it shares with other factions.

Markets, for example - every faction has them. They have another description and look for the different factions, but in their essence, they are the same buildings. This is why you can upgrade them with your own buildings.

Some buildings are just faction specific - like the carthaginian barracks. No one but them can build them.

That is not what this map is about though.
There is one building prebuilt in every settlement that noone can build, which is THE "cultural and economical building".
This is not about other cultural and economical buildings like temples, markets, etc.

    Very nice and useful map

This saves me a lot of time to orientate myself
I now can see clearly what kind of penalties and advantages a province has for my faction that I'm playing
I have 1 question , is the culture the same as the original owner of the region? (the faction that get the province if it revolts?)

Not for every faction, the seleucids for example have a lot of settlements with either greek or eastern culture.
I hope i understood your question correctly.
