Hey there everybody, after a lot of work I think I'm finally ready to release this huge text overhaul out to you guys!
As we all know, Call of Warhammer, is absolutely fantastic, and as we all also know, until the latest version, the two biggest issues still weighing down the base version of the mod were the stability issues and the very rough English.
What the translators did was incredible, I can vouch for the unimaginable amount of text in the game; translating the mod was a feat worthy of the gods. Unfortunately, there was a TON of grammatical and spelling errors in the mod, you guys have played it, you guys know.
What I have done is, rather painstakingly, gone through every bit of text in the game, bit by bit, and corrected all the spelling and grammatical errors I could find. I also added in a huge amount of text where it was required.
There are no longer any Russian words left in the events. You won’t see, for example, "zueralty army attackingVissenland" I figured out what they meant and rewrote things appropriately.
You will no longer see a single bit of missing text. No more "Need text here" No more "Dwarf Smith 1" All mercenaries have full descriptions and recruitment text.
I have also gone in and made text throughout the entire mod, in my opinion, more interesting and descriptive.
Now there are a few caveats I must let you guys know. There are about 6 events out of the thousand or so, that I just could not figure out what they even did. So I gave those text, but it’s more about the title of the event than what the event might actually be about. For example you may have come across the event "Flight" or "A poor Goblin". They had no description, now they do, but I still don't know what they actually do.
Also, the huge massive "stories" that show up in the events have been left as is. To be honest, there are about 40 of them, (again out of thousands of events) they are massive, and in most cases, they were translated in a way that I could not even discern what they were even saying. Those story events are just too vicious even for me. Everything else alone took hours upon hours of work!
Finally I must point out that there will be a few places I missed of course, along with the occasional strange fitting description. For instance, the Chaos Dwarfs have buildings from four different factions; those building descriptions were written for the actual faction they belong to. The Slave Market talks about Dark Elves, the Chaos Barracks are written with the Northmen in mind, and the Orc buildings are of course written in everyone's favorite language, Orcish English! None of those really fit the Chaos Dwarfs obviously, but making the description generic would dilute them I feel. If there was pre-existing text for buildings or units, I mostly kept those as it if they were readable and fit Warhammer. It was the events, buildings without text, the traits and ancilleries I mostly devoted my time to.
Well, with all that out of the way, here's the mod, I really hope you enjoy it. It is compatible with every mod made for 1.5.1, and was made using Gigantus's Rage of the Dark Gods version. Really, if you want an English text overhaul, you should be using that version anyway.
Just unpack it into your RotDG data folder and enjoy
UPDATE: After a long haitus, I'm back and ready for more Warhammer! I've finished the buildings, completely this time I believe. I took out all text that didn't fit the universe, mostly with the armourers and such, and corrected every typo I could find. I also rewrote a few of my own old changes that didn't really work right after looking at them again. This is the final buildings file, they're finished and up to snuff in my mind. Now I think I'm going to play for a while, see if I come across any unit or ancillery mistakes I need to correct, and then eventually set to work on the big events.
Just drop the new updated buildings into your RotDG folder, and you'll be set. Ive added a version for those using Kahvipannu's Battlefield Buildings add-on (which I do and so should you) and a version for those who arn't. To install the final version of the buildings without Kahv's BB add-on, follow the same procedure, but you must also go into your data folder, find your text folder, and delete the file, "export_buildings.txt.strings.bin"
