Update - I have found the reason for the eternal loading. The land bridges, both that near Constantinople, and the ones in Japan seem buggy, and cause the game to bug out when the AI or player tries to besiege a settlement crossing a land bridge.
So, I'll try to remove them.

So I've installed the game, but I get an error-less CTD whenever I try to actually start the Grand Campaign.

You should have read the installation instructions properly. The campaign won't load unless you either change your non-unicode language setting to PRC Chinese or get the patch that deletes the two units that use Chinese.

Sorry I have searched but I can not find an answer to this. How can I cross the Atlantic with an American faction?

I had issues of In-Battle CTD when fighting rebels, especially during sieges :/.
There are also some campaign turns that crash. Though, I noticed if I use the "toggle_fow" cheat, then it the turns that crashed work fine.

Does anyone have an idea ?
