Default Need advice on the second hand motherboard and CPU offered to me.

A friend recieved a new CPU and plans to buy a new mobo as well.

He offered his ASUS RoG Crosshair IV Formula AM3 and an AMD Phenom II x6 1055t to me for €160.

Both are not really in production anymore but I can still get them new from a few retailers for €330 together. They were bought about 1.5 years ago.

    Is this a good deal?
    I currently use a ASRock Extreme 3 870 and an x4 955 BE.

To tell the truth that upgrade is not that big compared to your current setup gaming-wise but it is a good deal for that amount of money.

It's not worth it compared to what you have now, but it's certainly a good deal. You'd get a better performance increase out of a better graphics card, if I had to guess.

If I can get my dad to buy my current stuff it might be an interesting deal.
Remember that I am a poor student and I just spend €220 on SSD's and stuff...

When you buy a second hand car, you take along a mechanic to test it out; for a second hand computer, take along a friend who's versed in it.

I run two 1055s, and for gaming they won't give you much of a push. You'd be better off waiting for FX 4120/4150 and a cheap AM3+ motherboard.

I can sell my current stuff for €120 so it would only cost me €40.
