    Default Got an iPod Touch..

So my parents bought me an iPod Touch for a college graduation present. It's my first Apple product and I have a question.

How exactly do I add music? I'm aware of iTunes and all that, but what if I already have music, say, on my computer? How do I add that to my device?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Just go to the folder that your music is in your computer, highlight it all, drag to itunes(open program), then highlight(again, but while the music is on the itunes library) and drag it to the device.

    Hope it helps.

Or you could just open up itunes, go to file -> add file (or add folder) to library and then navigate your way to the location of the music you want to add and select it. Then just drag it from itunes on to your ipod.

Okay new question...Say I wanted to watch an episode of a show that I have on DVD...How would I go about getting it off the disc (without erasing it somehow) and onto the iPod?

You get rid of that apple product and get a device that doesn't force you to use proprietary formats and the horrible mess that is Itunes.

Type the following parameter into your search engine of choice - "transfer dvd to iOS". Look through your available choices and see what works for you. There are available apps out there that will convert your DVDs into data files to be played on your iPad. But you'll have to make the choice of what's best for you. Some you have to pay for and others seem to be free - it is your call.

DVDs are physical memory for the most part and can't be accidentally deleted. If all you're doing is converting a copy from a DVD you own to digital format then you do not have to worry about erasing the disc - it is nearly impossible unless you make some momentous error like taking a belt sander to the disc surface. Good luck!

For a dvd, I believe you have to rip the movie from the dvd with a program and convert into an itouch compatible file format, which is mp4
