Just installed RTR for the first time loving the conquest of Itally, Im fighting Carthage, Greeks and Illyrians so far the Gauls are leaving me alone. Version 1.9 of gold is what I'm on.
Anyways I noticed that your Roman faction has a faction leader with a nomen missing and three daughters. So I thought I would find out if it is possible to keep the different maraiges and give the Roman a son with the familly name that you could not do if the father had no last name.
Good now you can.
How to do this?
Each character may sire 4 offspring so that is the maximum number of children available to each parent. To distinguish which branch is what the female characters need to be given last names. The best way is to give all daughers their father's surname. For the origional mothers choose a last name from the list you are not going to be using elsewhere.
Now that we have done this our founding Roman can have a surname and you can give him a son and heir with the same surname and it will show in game. Also the game will hide the female surnames for all females.
Also make sure to keep all characters up to date in the character records section such as mothers and siblings ect.
Also this will repeat if you want to marry off daughers in later generations having a large extended family. You can have a more complicated set up. All men can now have their own surname and have married adult daughers (age being correct of course)
Every time I have looked for this on the internet I could not find this. So I hope this is not something known within the community already that I am ignorant of.
I have tested this on Rome BI 1.06 clean install and it works. Edit, just tried on RTR for personal taste of family names and nostalgia of old Julii, Brutii and Scipii. It works fine.
Hope you all like this.
Really appreciate the effort all made for this game to be playable. Thanks RTR deelopment team for an excellent mod.
