Unspecified Error
Hi!
First of all i am still new here and i searched on this forum where can i make my topic so i think this the best place and if i made a mistake so sorry and please move this topic to the right place.
And my english is not very good but i try my best and i hope you will understand.
Now... my problem is simply but however is very hard.
My game is oroginal, this is a gold edition with Medieval 2 Total War and Kingdoms.
I love Medieval 2 Total War and i play with this.
But now often i got messages from the game, and this maessage its called "unspecified error" and its random show up in the empire campaign.
Now i play withKingdoms of Sicily and i am in the 50th round and then when the round changing in the middle of the change the game told me unspecified error and now quit.
So what can i do?
I am very mad, because this is original game and now its very often i got this message.
I have windows7 professional and this is a new, reinstalled windows without viruses or any bugs and i still got this message very often and its annoying.
I try to save several times but nothing... just unspecified error again and again and now in this 50th round i cant do nothing... always quit the game here.
I dont wanna lost my sicilian save aarrrrghhhhh!!!!
Please help to me!
I read on the internet, maybe this is a solution for my problem if i run the game under windows xp service pack3 but then i noticed my Sicilian save is lost!
I dont wanna restart my campaign pls help to me, thanks!

Re: Unspecified Error
Have you tried switching your computer off and on again?
Hmm, well I run the game on windows 7 and I've not ran into any problems! I suggest making a backup of your save file and re-install the game!

Re: Unspecified Error
Moved from M2 GD to M2 Tech
We'll move it, no problem.
It is best to run this game "Run as Administrator" and "XP SP3 Compatible". As you noticed, you lose your saves this way. It's an old XP game.
If it's a vanilla campaign, it's full of random bugs. This is the reason many play mods.
Post your dxdiag and we'll see how much maybe hardware/driver related.

Re: Unspecified Error
Thanks the answers.
Yesterday i didnt try but today i turned off and on my computer and nothing.
Well i have Milano and Genova and i saw Venice attack some rebel forces and a Holy Roman Empire diplomat try to connect with me and a Venice diplomat to. Papal States is my ally and i have Moor and Spain as enemy. And when i saw the turkish faction mark and the Egypt in the middle of the round change, the game crashed.
Interesting.
I checked this run administrator under xp sp3 thing at yesterday, i found this out myself but doesnt work. The game cant see my save in xp sp3 mode.
So i think if i check this then i need start a new campaign... damn... i really pissed off about this game... i love this... but i hate this... i have a gold editino and still crashes very often with this annoying bug and there is no solution even no patch what fix this.
I have 1.03 patch and Kingdoms so 1.04 i think and 1.05 and still crap.
Damn.
How can i copy here my dxdiag?
I have ati radeon hd 4600 3.0 ghz and 3gb ram.

Re: Unspecified Error
Vanilla is Medieval2 version 1.02/1.03. Anything else you are talking a specific mod or Kingdoms.
What you decribe is a bad piece of CA code. Have you tried runing it, again and have it stop at the same place? If so, you have two choices, (1)find an earlier save, take your campaign in another direction, and hopefuly so does the ai, or (2)start a new campaign.
The reason many play mods that have these annying errors fixed as much as posssible.

Re: Unspecified Error
That's what it's there for.
A choice of a mod depends on the way the player wants to play.
Third Age seems to ne a favorite because it's based on Lord of the Rings triliogy.
Deus Lo Vult is still a favorite of some.
We now have a Call of Warhammer mod.
There are many lesser mods that have their own following.
Try them all. The ones you like, keep and play. The ones you don't like, delete. It's all a personal preference thing.

Re: Unspecified Error
You two can play multiplayer on ETW. Both log into your Steam accounts first. How? Beyond this, I don't know.

Re: Unspecified Error
Both of us dont have a steam account... why? Is this very important? what is ETW? I never heard this before but i wanna play Medieval 2 Total War empire campaign (or grand campaign whatever is this in the game menu because my game its hungarian) and we wanna try this... me and my friends with one-one faction against the computer... is this possible? Or just quick battles? Because quick battles i think will get boring after a few match... and my friend dont have original game he need to download kingdoms too with patches... can this work?

Re: Unspecified Error
Buy the disc copy of Medieval2 and do about what you want.
Empire, Napoleon, and Shogun2 are tied to the Steam account. Each has to have his/her own copy.
Sega changed the rules when it released Empire.
