Qorsyn Dayne ascends the steps of great castle keep of Starfall. Every step feels a hudred more than it is, his stomach is in knots, his last hope at continuing his great profession, that he loves so much is relying solely on the outcome of his metting this day. This is the moment he has been dreading for almost a year. A year, a year has past since he fled Old Ghis, after a great and promising deal, which would have set him up for life, turned out to be
a setup, a hoax, a cowardly and greedy maneuvre by his former partner set to take over his share of the business he had going for 40 years. 40 years he reminded himself of his partnership with the man he referred to as a brother. A
man he took in as a young merchant and together they started a mighty merchantile empire which spanned from Braavos to Yi Ti. This man whom he had protected when others meant him harm, when they were both young. This very man had turned his back on his savior, me. I saved him when he had nobody, and gave him the means to create what he has and we built can empire together. Now... It's all come crashing down. Set up by my own "brother"....

Qorsyn snapped back to reality when a guard awoke him from his day dream

    Do you have business here?

    Qorsyn cleared his throat

I do, my good man, I do. I would like to speak with Lord Henryk. I am Qorsyn Dayne, uncle to Lords Henryk, and Veklund. I would need an immediate audience with my nephew at his earliest behest.

The guard looked to his partner and back to Qorsyn

One moment, please. The guard scurried away into the Great Hall and brought out the Guard-Captain of the Castle.

I am Captain Jaysun Aquila, of the Castle Guard. Qorsyn Dayne, is it? I will take you to see your nephew. He is currently at his leisure in the study, reading.

That's quite alright, Captain, I have given no word of my arrival Qorsyn's words soften as he completes the sentence, reflecting that he and his family have been hunted since he fled Old Ghis almost one years past. But he made no mind of it to the guard who escorted him now

You may enter the solar The Captain issues a guard at the doors to open them for this long lost Dayne relative

Henryk took off his spectacles and laid them onto one of his books, and rose from his seat to behold his long lost uncle, a man he had not seen in 25 years

Uncle Qorsyn? I have thought of many a thing that could surprise me, but this was not one of them. It has been a long time, uncle. I lament to say I had received no word of your arrival, I suppose messages can be lost quite easily travelling such great distances from Essos to here. Henryk rises out of his chair and walks over to his uncle and they meet forearm with hand, and then a hug

It has been some years, Henryk. Or shall I say, Lord Henryk now. Qorsyn bows to Henryk

Well now, Qorsyn, that's not necessary. You may refer to me as you did before, Henryk. You are my elder, I just happened to be in the position to recieve lordship of my father's
    holdings.

How fares your wife.. Her name escapes me, I'm afraid.

Rylana. Her name's Rylana, she's a Merchant-Prince's daughter, from Volantis, the same city as your wife, Keyla if I'm not mistaken. She is well, good nephew. But we are very tired of late, it has been a long year... My son, Lewyn is also well.

Henryk has a puzzled expression upon his face I had no idea you had a son, Qorsyn. Lewyn you say?

A boy of 10 he is. Smart. Just like his old man, I he will take over my trade... Or what's left of it that is

What do you mean, uncle? How fares your business in Volantis was it?

Formerly, yes. It was in Volantis I started, but the trade picked up in Old Ghis. I established my headquarters there. Traded as far as Braavos to Asshai. It was good for a long time. The business flourished, I had several luxurious manses, a multitude of servants and advisors, even a small personal army. I rented them off to different regions as a sellsword company, and held the monopoly on the gladitorial combat market for the past 20 years.

I have had many great fortunes in my life, Henryk. That is directly the reason I have come to you today. I have lost it all
    Qorsyn grew noticeably saddened

My partner, Dobban zo Loraq, betrayed me. I originally freed him from a slave status gladiator. He had nothing when I purchased him and freed him. He had several debts that he still owed, but he was protected by voluntary slave laws in the region, which forbade the prosecution of voluntary slaves if they give themselfs up for their past indiscretions and their slates are then wiped clean as they attempt to pay off their debts. My purchase was a private matter between a slavemaster of a gladitorial house, and me, a then apprentice merchant. Together we formed a friendship, and he won a decisive matchup for me, which doubled my finances at the time. For this I set him free, and offered him a partnership. I taught him many merchant trade secrets and provided him all he needed to get started. The business picked up and soon we had trading fleets that sailed from Sothoryos to the north-western tips of Essos.

It all went sour. I refused to expand the business beyond means of our control. He wished to engage in trading and investments in 2x the capacity we were currently at, and it's not that I could not provide for it financially, it's that it was far more than we should reach for in such a quick span of time. But he insisted in the business ventures. Well I foolishly let the decades of friendship between us overcome my own merchantile convictions. I approved a transfer of funds, 2/3rds my treasury to his invesetments, a move I have done numerous times before, as he has done for me in return. We trusted eachother more than if we were family. It was a great business we had. Unfortunately, he turned the funds I provided into a means to dispose of me, so he could claim sole ownership of the company. I immediately recalled my personal army from duties in the north. We met in the village square. His army versus mine. However he paid off several local sellsword captains to ambush my rear forces during the fight, and my army was diminished. I fled to my manse, where I had my personal bodyguards strike down any man who tries to pursue. I took up Rylana, and Lewyn and we left Old Ghis on the first boat out. We were pursued to Volantis by agents hired by Dobban. In Volantis, old trading partners provided us a means of protection for a little while. When an assassination attempt was botched, we fled once more, this time to Norvos, where we remained hidden under different identity for about eight months. Then we fled to Pentos for a month, before coming back to Westeros. Now we
are safe, for the moment. I took up residence at a small apartment outside the castle, nearing the last remnants of my once-sprawling treasury. I am at a loss for words, Henryk. I am in dire straits and there is no hope for a safe climb out of this hole.

Henryk stroked his beard for several moments before speaking

Your family and all it's retainers will be immediately moved into the safety of the castle, and you will have my round the clock protection, Qorsyn. The Ghiscari have no jursisdiction in Dorne, let alone Westeros. No army could ever follow you here. You are safe now, Uncle. But I have a feeling this isn't all you came to ask of me

    Qorsyn hesitated before speaking...

As smart as your father was, Henryk. You are right, I have come to ask a favor of House Dayne. One I could not have the brass to ask another. I am keen on upstarting once more, a new business, this time, in Westeros. I wish to open my own Merchant's Guild again, this time for myself alone, and here in Starfall. The trade is numerous, the Free Cities, the other Westerosi cities, it is a prime location. I need however, appropriated funds to undertake this venture...

Funds? How much do you need, Uncle

Doing the numbers myself this past week, in the event you would agree to this, I have tallied it to be 90,000 Dragons, Henryk.

90,000!? That's a substantial amount of gold, Qorsyn. I could not provide the entirety of it myself, at this very moment, as I'm sure you are aware when you arrived, I have commissioned several upgrades to Starfall's defences. Strengthend walls, more towers, and impenetrable gates. 90,000 dragons six months ago would have been okay. I will need to speak with Veklund and Travers, and we could perhaps collect the funds needed for this. My assumption is that you will need them as soon as possible as I know your an anxiously ambitious man. Henyrk shares a smile with Qorsyn

Allow me to dispatch ravens to High Hermitage and Blackmont, where Travers is currently training some new houseguards for Lady Blackmont. I will appropriate the amount required within a months time, Qorsyn. In the mean time, have your family make itself at home in your new home. Henryk leans back in his seat and kicks his feet upon the table

Thank you, Henryk. I will repay you one day, this I assure you.

The men look at one another than at the banners, the one in the center, one might guess the leader, answers.

We are in the prince's business and it's best if you don't keep us waiting.

OOC Time to test your contingency plan.

    Rightly so, right this way.

The Dayne guard mounts and leads the men to the castle gates, where they grant access to the Prince's men

They ride upto the front steps of the keep, where they dismount and head up the steps into the keep

The men are led down the great hall, to a side door heading down another corridor, where they are lead to two large ebonoaken doors, two guards are present, and halt the men

Lord Henryk is currently in a meeting in his study. What is the subject of business?

OOC: How many men do you have there

    Rightly so, then.

    Your commander here, may enter

The doors open and the commander is granted access to the study

Lord Henryk is sitting back talking with Ser Travers

Ser Travers turns as both men notice the Martell captain. Travers takes a puff of his pipe and eyes down the captain before turning away, losing interest

Good day Hernyk lets a small nod

    The captain shakes his head

I have come to Starfall under direct orders from prince Doran, I bring with me a princely decree..

The man clears his throat and begins

It has come to the prince's attention that you have begun to trade with that most hated enemy of all dornish.. the lannisters. Under his direct orders I have come to tell you to break said trade, as it is a deceleration of war on the princes ,or face the consequences, you will be branded oath breakers and traitors to the princes and by that the king of westeros himself. The punishment for such a crime death for you and your fellow lord, the wall for ser travers, and imprisonment on the martell island prison for your wives, etc..

    Ser Travers smile

Will it be you who tries to arrest me first? I'd gladly allow you to try right now, just send one of your men back saying you fell in a viper pit. The Wall? An unlikely scenario for me, I rather enjoy women. Travers smiles again as he picks dirt from under his nails with a dagger

I do believe we are all Westerosi, are we not? Does the Prince not serve the same King as I? Said Henryk sternly

OOC: You have to RP how you got knowledge of such, in your Home Thread. Otherwise this is defunct lol. Can't just Powergame without RPing how you obtained knowledge, and have not discussed (IG) the event.

OOC: You wouldn't first of all, considering the Martells are on the opposite side of Dorne. And also, you need to RP how you obtained this knowledge amongst your chars. Can't just show up out of the blue claiming you had knowledge and didn't RP how you obtained it, or how you concocted a plan to deal with House Dayne.

    Time Warp

Veklund, Travers, Areo Ramsey (Guard Captain of Starfall), and Henryk all meet in Starfall to discuss the impending war

The Martell's have dispatched a threat against us. I am sending Keyla, Romun, and Barun, to Oldtown for safety. I suggest you do the same with Aleria, Veklund.

How many men do we command total, Areo.

    Areo Ramsey clears his throat

5,000 active troops, My Lord. The Martell's surely possess 10 fold that number, with the rest of the Dornish banner's called.

Travers, perhaps you should accompany Keyla to Oldtown. It would be a shame for Oberyn Martell to take possession of Dawn...

Nonsense, uncle. If it's Dawn that Prince Oberyn wants, then he will have to test me with his poison spear. I will look for his red armor when the Martell's breach the walls. We will test the Viper of Dorne then.

    Henryk gives a solemn nod

Veklund, gather your forces, and your valuables. Send the valuables across the Torrentine with the rest of High Hermitage's exiles, and order your troops within Starfall. They will join us when the siege begins

Areo, have any remaining surpluses of grains, and even plants, and livestock gathered into Starfall. We are likely in for a lengthy siege.

Travers, send your marshals east to sentry the Martell arrival. By the time Prince Doran gets his banners gathered and marches from Sunspear, it will be likely 6-8 months time. We must prepare now.

I have dispatched ravens. Our hopes for survival now lie with King Maegor. If he chooses not to intervene, then we will all be dead with a year from now.

May the Gods have mercy upon us all.

There is a silent acknowledgement of the men present as they depart their separate ways to begin preparations
