how can i open the encyclopedia files with photoshop to make new entries for new units?

is there a tutorial on how to best make new entries here?

I think you're talking about HTML files, which can be opened with your web browser and edited with any decent HTML editor. Notepad++ is good for that, or you could use kompozer which lets you edit what the page will actually look like, rather than stare at and work with html.

Once you get a new unit going, name your custom html file with that custom unit's unit ID and stick that html file in the "units" folder in the encyclopedia folder .
